If you want a dynasty like CHI and PIT had during the cap era, a team needs to suck for a long time and collect high end draft picks with depth to develop with them. I wish PIT would have rebuilt already. Hextall is far too stupid to build around aging stars- if it can be done at all. If PIT have a lottery pick next year, Bettman will ensure they'll get Bedard. They'll likely go the route DET did and keep being a pretender for their useless consecutive postseason berths.

Ken Holland is long gone from Detroit (praise Jesus). He delayed the proper rebuild by about 5 years because of his terrible asset management and reluctance to cut loose the veterans that sucked who weren't their aging All Stars. The full-on rebuild should have started the year Lidstrom retired (the writing was on the wall). All Holland cared about was keeping the playoff streak alive despite lacking the talent to actually go deep in the playoffs.
Now the I see PIT doing the same thing. Even if PIT makes the playoffs get ready to get bounced the first round as Malkin and Crosby operate at half speed (when they're not injured). Thank God Steve Yzerman is running the show in Detroit now. Wings are now a team on the rise.
