I don't think Zac is coming back ... it makes no sense to have Zac and JD in the same lineup. But then again it makes no sense to be spending over $31M on defense if/when Ellis comes back. Something has got to give there also. - jd250
I think because they qualified him he will be here, it's just a matter of for how much. I guess they can waive him.

2018 Canadian World Junior team involved in sexual assault investigation. Who was on that team? Carter Hart. Word is he's already lawyered up. Can't wait to see how this plays out. |

The kid has absolutely no idea how to play defense . He never had to and never coached to play D. He has a very long way to go and best suited to play for Phantoms and learn the game - hfc355
He struggled his first 4-5 games then I thought he played pretty good. I agree he needs some seasoning but I think he’s going to be a decent to good dman in the near future. I can see him playing a lot this year….he’s probably the first guy they call up if he doesn’t make the team out of camp. The luck the Flyers have with injuries I can see him playing 50-60 games this year for the big club. |

3 guys in the NHL have already come out and said they weren’t part of it and have no first hand knowledge of what happened. Hart was not one of the guys to issue such a statement. |

Sounds awesome. I'm sure everything will work out. It always does for the Flyers.

I really hope the ND signing and the possibility of Zac coming back isn't happening because of Torts. I mean, the first thing he basically said was that this team needs to be tougher to play against. The problem is in today's game tougher to play against isn't about employing tough guys. It's about possessing the puck and winning puck battles to get it back when you don't have it. There is really no purpose for having both of those guys on this team. FIRE CHUCK! Thanks! |

Kyrou, Steel, and Raddysh join Robert Thomas, Victor Mete, Cale Makar, Dante Fabbro, Carter Hart, Cal Foote, and Jonah Gadjovich as members of the 2018 team who have denied their involvement in the alleged incident.

The Flames elected to take Tkachuk to arbitration. That indicates that Tkachuk's salary demands are out of what in their view. - MJL
Salary demand is most likely part of it but word is it was a defensive play because by going to team initiated arbitration it blocks other teams from offer sheeting him.
basically they are now forced to pay him above his qualified offer but it buys them negotiation time and saves them the fear of an offer sheet

Oh good. He denied it. That should close the investigation. - PLindbergh31
I doubt it. But at least he is on record as denying it.

Yes, it does block an offer sheet but that wasn't really a threat. What is a threat is the Flames losing a 2nd star player. If it goes to arbitration, the Flames have to look to trade Tkachuk.

Remember, they qualified him before they signed their other 4th line stud. More solid planning on Chuck's part.
Didn't Bill write the other day though, that the Flyers could still walk away and not pay if it goes to arbitration and they don't like the ruling? |

wow. As pathetic as it gets.
https://twitter.com/jceez...tatus/1549437088386482177 - PLindbergh31 They were ripping Chuckles on Sirius/XM NHL network the other day. They basically said that Chuckles knew the day was coming for 2 years that JG would be a UFA and wanted to play in Philly. Then the clown doubles down about having no cap space to sign him like he was surprised that JG was available and Philly was his first choice. FIRE CHUCK!! Thanks yet again!! |

My understanding is that the likely contract that MacEwen would be awarded would not be high enough for the Flyers to have walk away rights.

That's simply a PR move and a cover up for Fletcher's incompetence.

Or the Flyers could just walk away from arbitration. They picked Zac up on waivers, its not like they would be losing anything. |

I don't think backing out of JG is incompetence, its the right move. The incompetence IMO stems from this past deadline, and the subsequent trade for DeAngelo. I like DeAngelo, but that was not a needed move for this team at this time. The goal should be to take advantage of a very deep draft and get the highest pick possible to get a generational talent. That for me was the last straw. |

The flyers didn’t want him for whatever reason. This is as clear as day. |

The reason is clear, the Flyers rightly did not want to tie up close to $70M on one player who is small and 29 years old. It was a smart decision, but unfortunately a decision that was made not because there is a plan in place to rebuild this team properly but instead a decision based on incompetent cap management. This to me is the main reason Fletcher needs to be fired. The right and obvious plan for this team was to pick high in 2022 and 2023 drafts as well as accumulate as much draft capital as they could for the deep 2023 draft, while at the same time letting old contracts expire. Resigning Risto, getting very little for G and trading for DeAngelo were all back breakers, and will set this franchise back for years now! My only hope is this coming season is a complete disaster and the Flyers once again can luck into a top 5 pick. |

Nothing to do with cap management. They made a choice they didn’t want him; if they did then he would be here. |
