I have given up on trying to solve the random number generator that is our FO. Is it Chuck? Is it Bobby? The media reports, if true, make it sound like it is never Chuck as he needs some kind of validation for everything he does. All I know is our roster gets worse every year that he is GM. And, even when they have several years to plan for it, they can't execute a salary dump to make room for a local kid who has the speed and finesse that we need so much and that will bring fans back to the arena. - iamscore2day
Seems clear to me they didn't want JG for whatever reason.

Apparently, Hockey Canada has a reserve fund to settle sexual assault allegations without involving the insurance company. Seems like they expect and excuse this type of behavior. That is pretty awful. - mickel25
Unfortunately the water gets very murky when you are talking about up and coming athletes that are going to make a lot of money. There will be folks who try and expose them for that and at the same time there can be indefensible decisions made by one of those athletes. At the end of the day hockey Canada just wants it to go away, hence the fund. I will add, If you don’t think majority of major sports organizations operate this way you are foolish. |

I am fully aware. It is horrible to think they just error on the side of the player as the base setting. It should not be that way when there is a case that can/should be prosecuted.

So you would have been fine if he mailed it in at the end of the season because the Flyers were not making the playoffs? - WhiskeyMan
Not what I am saying. Said last 10 or so games were meaningless |

Worth a listen to that Tony D interview. Comes across as honest through it all. Clearly a guy with a temper but doesn’t seem so bad. |

What would have the outcome if the Flyers got JG?
Would they have been a playoff team for the entire length of his contract?
Would they have been a cup contender for multiple seasons?
Would they have an aging player stuck on a long term high priced contract?
JG would actually hurt the team, he would help them be a middle of the road team and prevent them from getting a top 10 draft pick.
We just have to let the sudo tank happen and build through the draft. I don't like it but I do not see any other option.

How can you go public if you took a settlement? Would assume whatever in the settlement would forbid that. - ClaudeFather
Reading between the lines on this one, she's already blown all the settlement money and now wants more. |

From what i read, it was the government that wants to look into it further for all the money they donate, had nothing to do with her.

If they are pseudo-tanking why are they still spending to the cap and adding a 50 point dman to try and fix the league worst PP?
When the Rags were rebuilding and had an elite forward wanting to sign with them, they made sure they found the space to do it.

Fletcher with his incompetence misread the market and thought he would be able to move JVR. He found the price too high.

I'm fairly certain that the settlement was approved by a court in the first place. Who the heck knows what's going on... it's Canada.
Aside from that, at 18/19/20 years old on the cusp of a likely lucrative professional hockey career, WTF are they thinking? You have to be aware of the fact that there's a target on your back now and anything or anyone with an axe to grind can literally ruin your career and your life. So one kid wants to smash a chick, so what. When many others join the fray it becomes a whole different situation, and they should know better even if it's consented to by the girl. Just stay away. Water under the bridge now and the politicians are now involved. |

Exactly. It’s entirely possible he didn’t know who Johnny Gaudreau was or what a salary cap is. |

And that elite forward got them to how many Stanley Cup rounds?
Since getting Zibanejad, they have been in 2016 they have made the playoffs 4 times and made it to the Conference finals once.
Since acquiring Panarin, they made the playoffs 3 times, and made it to the Conference finals once and IMO that was due to their goalie.
Hawks have 2 super stars, will they be a playoff team?
