1. Tkachuk + O. Kylington to STL for: Kyrou, Krug, 2023 first, 2024 2nd rounder, Scandella, Jake Neighbors.
OR:
2. Tkachuk to OTT for either Stutzle OR Norris, 2023 first, 2024 2nd round pick.
Both trades are dependent upon Tkachuk signing a minimum 6 year extension with the acquiring club. - quinneroma
Stutzle 1 for 1 99% of Sens fans wouldn't do. He is going to be a beast
This is my "Screw it! Blow Everything Up" for the Sharks:
To the Sharks:
-Matthew Tkachuk
To The Flames:
-Timo Meier (RFA at the end of season)
-Thomas Bordeleau
-2023 1st Round Pick
-2024 2nd Round Pick
-Marc-Edouard Vlasic with $2 Million retained. (so 4 years left at $5 mill instead of $7 mill)
San Jose would move out cap space by getting rid of the Vlasic contract and use a good chunk of that to sign Tkachuk. They wouldn't have to worry about re-signing Meier (who will cost them a bit less than Tkachuk).
The 1st Rounder would be probably a high pick that would Calgary would love to have.
I know people will probably hate this, but San Jose needs key pieces to re-build. Matthew Tkachuk would be a major corner stone of it.
Note, there will be huge bidding wars, so return should be good - assuming Tkachuk given permission to talk w/teams for contract.
CBJ: has cap issues, would need to dump huge salary (eg Voracek) to do so, and that means sweetening the pot. Tkachuk FOR Voracek + Laine + 1st 2023 + 1st 2024 (or Bjorkstrand)
Realistically, teams that I think have easier pathway and will for a deal (cap space + pieces) are OTT, PHI, NJD, NYR, TOR. Some ideas:
obviously he doesn't have to be, but again, how often do sign and trades happen in the NHL? essentially NEVER. this isn't the NBA dude. it's extremely unlikely Tkachuk is a sign and trade. making him....a rental - jtylerm
He can negotiate a contract with the new team prior to the trade, no team will agree to a trade without it.
It is hilarious with all the"that deal is horrible, never happening" BS. Look at all the trades in the past, even this season. Trades that are outright horrible...happens every season. Dadanov... Patches for a bag of pucks each... DaBrinkat trade...etc etc...Teams make bad trades for reasons we never know. In my mind, every scenario here is a distinct possibility. It never ceases to amaze me the stupidity NHL GM's show year after year.
Lots of these proposals have multiple D pieces moving to Calgary, and that's the one position they really do not need. Look at capfriendly - Calgary is looking exclusively for forwards and forwards only.
Batherson and Formenton for Tkachuk contingent on a long term deal that matches Brady's identically. Maybe win a cup or two, walk both to UFA, and they ride off to St. Louis in the sunset.
F Matthew Tkachuk
F Milan Lucic (50% salary retained)
To Calgary Flames
F William Nylander
D Justin Holl
F Kyle Clifford
2023 1st
2024 2nd (1st if Leafs make cup finals in either 2023 or 2024; both 1st & 2nd if Leafs win cup in either year)
Only way pens could make it work unless there’s a side deal for dumoulin to another team.
Not the best forward prospect, but it’s the best the pens have. Giving the flames an extra 1st round pick to essentially take 2 higher contracts in Carter and Dumo.
I kept Zucker on the team to give the team more depth on wing and he only has 1 year left, whereas Carter has 2. So the pens would have more cap flexibility next year to resign Blueger. Also with the cap going up and JJs buyout dropping, pens would be in a much better spot next year. For any small FA signings
Most likely would have to also find a taker for McGinn
