No, not directed at you. It was a general “we hate - 1970vintage[name any “stats” guy]” because the models are stupid and are completely wrong, and then in the next breath talk about how to fix the exact thing that the model says needs fixing.
👌 very good. I'm not sure if it's just joking like tin foil hat or just something they don't understand so they mock it.
I find the hot takes very equal between the eye test and analytics. Lots of head scratchers on both sides 😆 |

Flames will be competitive. Pelletier, Ruzicka, Mackay, Valimaki maybe even Phillips will all get chances this fall. - K-man25
It’s only the majority of your goals scored and 220 combined points. I mean, how bad could it be right? Right?! It’s fine. You’re fine. |

It’s like when the Sedins retired and the team tanked the following season because they had nobody else to score. |

How exactly will he block a trade, when his limited NTC starts in 2025? - 1970vintage
I didnt realize it hadn’t started. If I were the Flames, I’d target players that are interested in playing in calgary |

I was told by many experts on here, that they would be a better team without them. Addition by subtraction if i remember the "logic" correctly. Most teams get better when they lose 2/5 of their PP1 line |

Ya, anyone that grew up in a pooptier Canadian city than Calgary... so I guess most of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba all make the cut. |

Sorry, that was a joke. The Sedins final season was dismal, the Canucks finished with 73 points and scored 218 goals (while allowing 259 against. The next season, without the twins, they improved to 81 points and scored 219 (while improving defensively with 248 against).
Is Calgary better for losing two of their top three scorers? No, but it’s not as bad as some suggest either. |

Byron Bader
The Carolina Hurricanes' 2022 NHL draft was a drafting masterclass. High value at nearly every pick. They walked away with significant assets and didn't even have a 1st round pick. A near perfect draft.
The Hurricanes have drafted really well over the past 3-4 years. They have more prospects in their system with 'NHL potential' than any other team in the league. And they keep adding to it every year, especially this year.
Their draft reminds me a bit of the Calgary Flames 2015 draft. Like Carolina, they didn't have their 1st rounder (traded for Hamilton). They drafted good value, exceeded their draft slot immensely, and ended up with Andersson, Kylington and Mangiapane.
Canuck fan "Canucks suck at drafting, Carolina is so awesome at drafting."
Canuck fan "Analytics sucks and are useless"

The Sedins combined for 105 points and were -43 together.
Tkachuk and Gaud were 219 points and +111 together.
Bit of a difference in comparing them. |

“Jfresh is a moron because his models suggest the Canucks D are not that good” *complains that the Canucks D needs to improve… - 1970vintage
My issue is that I’m 99% sure if you put Tyler Myers on the Panthers or Avs on a 3rd pairing sheltered role instead of the shutdown role he played here, his JFresh chart looks drastically different despite being the exact same player. |

Flames will be fine. Johnny wanted out back when his RFA deal was done and Turtle requested a trade to STL back in the summer of 2019 I think it was...maybe 2020.
Now Flames can get some guys that will perform in the PO's short and long term as well. Might be 1-2 transitional years but it is what it is. |

Actually the Saddledome is still in pretty good shape after all the flood renovations. It's fine it's just the stigma around having a new rink and wanting to be like EDM lol |
