Trevor Neufeld: On Optimism — Updates on Tkachuk — Possible Returns Via Trade
- Trevor_Neufeld_

Yikes. Didn't see Calgary becoming the new Edmonton, the place and team players don't want to play for. Guess the poopkicking the Oilers gave the Flames in the second round really scared these guys off.

Who?
Yeah let’s fire the Jack Adams award winner, one of the most successful coaches in Flames history.

"This article is so dumb "they won't be contenders" I betcha any money they are in the playoffs and make to past the 2nd round this yr tkatuck and Jonny weren't the whole team"

Let's stay positive guys

That's a silly article. It's way too early to say the Flames can't be serious contenders. Maybe it turns out to be true, but the Flames have the type of roster Sutter can win with, and he'd get all the credit. They still have a Vezina calibre goalie, a top ten defence, good enough forwards, and promising prospects.

Look what the Islanders did when the same thing happened to them. They had their best three-year stretch in a loooooong time after Tavares left, including a 103 point the first year with only one player barely over 60 points. You can get a long way with elite goaltending and team buy-in.

I hate to say it but I agree. A positive for him would be the chance to play higher up the roster than on other teams.
- DuranDuran

Yeah, that might be enough to keep him in Calgary.

With 2 years left on his contract, is it the best time to move Hanifin too? His value is quite high right now.

With all this drama going on I'm not sure about Coronato's intention anymore.

I wouldn't overreact too much to it. It easily could've gone differently. If free agency happened on one of the days Gaudreau was feeling differently, he probably stays in Calgary and then Tkachuk stays as well. Tkachuk leaving probably has more to do with the fact that the Flames will probably be bottom of the division in 2-3 years so commiting for 8 doesn't make a ton of sense.

Also, if the Flames weren't ass last year, Gaudreau probably would've extended last summer.

If you can get Stutzle and Sanderson from Ottawa then you’ve got to do it. Throw in Kylington to try and pry away some early round pics too.

I’m loving this thread. I kinda feel like the Flames board has Cloutier 2010-14 potential . It helps the Trevor is a complete homer dippoop without a clue, the team is dog poop and getting pooptier, and the Fans have always been Sabres Fans level delusional. Could be a fun couple years. Do you guys have any refs hanging around swinging the ban hammer?

They also wanted to be nearer home.

Seriously: There will be a return for trading Chucky and still a few nice UFAs can be signed.

Sounds about right provided there's an agreement for Chucky to sign.

No way they trade Sanderson, he's our best prospect on a defence thin team.

Kylington can play both sides and would nicely slot in the Sens top 4. Regardless of the trade partner, Treliving should be going for players 2 young, high-potential players to build around, and a high pick or two. Sens would likely need to dump salary (Zaitsev) for the numbers to work out.

To Ottawa:
Tkachuk
Kylington

To Calgary:
Stutzle
Sanderson
Zaitsev
2023 1st

You could play around with picks to make both parties happy, but Calgary will now have the salary cap to take on a contract like Zaitsev, which is why I could see him being included in a potential trade.

These are both major wins...its funny how Oiler fans now think Tkachuk is the greatest player in the NHL after saying he was slow and just cashed in on Gaudreau/Lindholm for years

Lets hope were not disappointed but I honestly feel if Chucky was signed long term and we made him available... we would get all of this and maybe more..

Or play him till trade deadline, when return is not much less and cap implications way more favorable.

No different than all the ridiculous poop Flames spew out about the 1 dimensional Oilers players. Only difference is we turned out out to be right and you Jabronis were dead wrong….this was proven in the BOA.

Not much left from the 1st rebuild. Embrace the young guns. Exciting time to be a Flames fan…… as long as Treliving doesn’t Fuk this up.
