Cant wait to see for how much less Heinen sings for. - sammy87
I bet he has a melodic baritone. Does he do singing telegrams?

I don’t understand. How do you watch him from last season and say “he’s worth the same price but for 2 years!”.

Damn... Both Pennsylvania teams are paying way too much for mediocre players.
So much for making a last run at a cup for you guys but hey... At least you're not Philly with Chuck "fleece me" feltcher at the helm
It's sad to see the last few years of geno and Sid get wasted by poor cap management but that's what hexy does... This is the same guy who paid a 1 dimensional player names JVR 7m per year
Hexy sucks. Good luck with him. He singlehandedly set the flyers franchise back about 5 years with his piss poor drafting. Good luck dealing with hexy

Nino is so much more suited for Sully, not to mention the better overall player, and only cost 800k more than Kap.. Yes, I know, we don't know for sure if he would want to even sign with Pens but I doubt his agent was even talked to. Hex got who they wanted, including Kap. |

Nope. Pitts has too much money tied into an aged(aging) core, which makes getting any decent free agents difficult.

If we had not signed Rutta and not qualified or traded Kapanen’s rights (both completely in our power to do) w would have close to $6 mil in space. If we had done that and managed to trade an LD for cap space like we did with Marino we would have had near $10 mil in space and been poised to do some serious overhaul to our supporting cast. The core is all on good to great contracts. The aged core isn’t what’s holding us back from building a good roster. |

Like this is pretty realistic and nothing super crazy:
Guentzel-Crosby-Rust
Milano-Malkin-Rackell
Zucker-Carter-Niederreiter
Larsson-Blueger-McGinn
DOC
Petterson or Dumoulin-Letang
Matheson-Marino
POJ/Friedman-Ruhwedel
Jarry
DeSmith
How much better does that look? Also if you want the 3C insurance you could have done Strome instead of Nino and pushed Carter to RW. |

The money tied into the core has nothing to do with poor contracts to Kap and Ruutta and to a lesser extent Carter, Archi, DeSmith. those are all self inflicted wounds.

Technically right haha... He was about to be a UFA and was only on Pens for like 4 weeks and 1.5 playoff games. Said he really wanted to come back, loved it there. Thats not quite the same in my mind as say Tanger or Geno extending.. Rakell would of been one of the better wingers available.
Rutta was a UFA. So was Heinin, ERod, Tanev, Gonchar.. Others haha.. Just had a look down through their history of FA signings in Sid and Geno era and its pretty lackluster.. Now in saying that some lesser names/contracts really worked out but there certainly hasn't been many big tickets like Gonch, who signed before Geno arrived. |

Carter, Kap, Mcginn and Rutta are 11.8 combined. I really know nothing of Ruuta but that could have been $$ for Nino and Heinen. This team is just meh.

Self-inflicted wounds?? Don't you blaspheme in here! Our Lord and Savior Ronald Hext-ALL will show us the way!
Ok aging core + many many many bad contracts. Which is mind-boggling. Some of the terms given out are borderline criminal, IMO. |

Paul Martin was probably the next biggest FA we got after Gonch. Michalek maybe? After that I feel like the most excited I’ve gotten for a free agent in the past X amount of years is Eric Fehr because he seemed like the best bottom 6 UFA center available and I desperately wanted to be done with Sutter. Then funny enough he wasn’t even the guy that replaced Sutter and was very meh all around here. |

We straight up May have the worst bottom six in the league. This team may be worse than meh. A couple of key injuries and we could possibly miss the playoffs cus there is no one in the bottom six that can play up right now. |

Odds are Malkin and Zucker miss 40 man games combined is a high possibility. Crosby for his style and age, id put down for 10. |

Oh yeah Martin! .. I must of breezed over him when scanning down through list. I really liked his game.
Hahah I liked when Fehr joined too... He wasn't too bad for 4C..scored a big goal in 2016 run, game winner to tie series 1-1vs Caps.. Had he not scored that, who knows what would of happened... |

Zucker's contract, Petersson's contract, Kapanen 1.9 dead cap hit: I see the Pens are having a very hard time cleaning up JR's (frank)ing mess! |

I included Kapanen because he gave up a first round pick just two years ago and they are going to give him every last chance or else just another wasted high draft choice! |

What's different about him? People here have wanted the Pens to get rid of him for two years! |
