Bjorkstrand traded to Seattle for only a 3rd round pick. Not that columbus would've traded him to us, but that's the kind of deal you can make when you have the cap space to do it. Hextall did a great job opening up cap but then blew every dollar of that cap space on garbage.

No plan.... That's exactly right. It would be hard to spend our excess cap space less effectively. Carter, Kap and Rutta for around 9mil is so bad.

I think Hex might of been thinking this with Sid getting Tanger so much. Geno getting older needs more help producing, Petry should help with that. Think about who Malkin has had in recent years.. JJ included...

Exactly and even if Geno gets Letang some shifts Sid can get Petry. They really haven't had this since Gonchar and Letang we're separated. Letang and Martin were good except Martin couldn't shoot either haha.

Because of the Kapanen overpay, the Penguins have four choices now: Trade, roll with only 12 forwards, likely lose their eighth defenseman (Chad Ruhwedel, Mark Friedman, or P.O Joseph) to waivers, or buyout Zucker.

I agree, especially with O'Connor and T.J. Smith exempt, and a lot depth players being pretty safe on October waivers.

Also agree that DET has better forward depth now... nice job by #19.

Yup the big issue is the Rutta signing and also Kap for the forwards. Those were the 2 mistakes. And a 5.95 mil mistake at that.

Honestly, if we weren’t planning on having a bottom 6, shoulda just went after gaudreau. Probably coulda dumped sucker w/ our 1st rd pk.
