Sometimes young players can be drafted at one place, and without playing many games for that team, get moved as currency to another team to become part of that core group.

Krebs and Thompson are core players, as may be considered Jokiharu. What’s the true difference if they were desired and brought in before or after the draft?

It’s the point that some posters on here all off-season are melting down because we didn’t sell the farm for cat or sign overpriced 3rd liners like Copp. “You can’t win just drafting guys”, when over half our roster right now was acquired via trade or FA, contradicting their whole argument

Sure cause Cat cost the farm to acquire. Or a forward that's been in the Selke voting 3yrs in a row and whose offense has been going up for 2yrs strait wouldn't have helped. Nobody said sell the farm, just get out of Pig's Pen.

Nope those are tank trades (present for future) or dollar store FA’s. I think the fans, players and league need to see that the Sabres want to win games this year before are anyone wants to come here. Starting a season without a goalie is a rough start.

I see the patience plan, but careers are short, agents and players can’t wait around for four years to see what happens. We all want Bedard but it has to end somewhere.
