I'm seeing joker as a valuable trade asset, not someone we're getting rid of because of his failed play.

Not sure why we need to upgrade the 4 or 5 defenseman more than we just did with buch?

Top (2) 1OA'S and samuelsson are going to play 80 - 85 of the 120 minutes. Mostly the important times.

Mitts has more to give. My doubts lie solely on Joker.

Joker hopefully keeps growing at maturing. He's still very young. If anything he's the perfect 3rd pair guy, or trade chip.

I would think KA would realize our 4th/5th defenseman play less than a team without 3 top minutes eating defenseman.

Feels like buch is now the 4th and joker the 5th defenseman.

Joker looked good IMO late last season and had big time minutes.

You're a bit salty today. I like most of their prospects. I really liked Joker year 1. He just hasn't improved. He's basically Pysyk.

I think they might have been able to get a 2nd for him at the draft, and I would have taken it.

I agree with you. Just wanted one move, nothing crazy.

I'm not high on Joker. I stuck by Dahlin's side since the second he was drafted. But Joker, I'm just not really seeing his relevance. He has a couple years to hit his prime, but he's very partner-dependent. Power brought out the best in him, and so did Scandella. He was horrid with Dahlin, and they stuck with that tandem for way, way too long. Think this team would be better off upgrading him if possible.

At $2.5m he is a good deal for a #4 and a bit expensive as a 5 or 6 where his expected usage would presumptively decline by 40%.

It's becoming clear that if he doesn't change his game/approach, he's a very partner dependent 4/5 guy. Sabres need to be better by putting him in the right situation to ensure he doesn't become the black hole he was with Dahlin. His was Ristolainen-esq with his destructiveness while on the ice this past season.

This team has slowly identified and released it's black holes and Joker is really the last one. Now, to be fair to him, he was way stronger under Ralph. Take that with a grain of salt. They need to rethink his deployment. AKA stop with the Dahlin pairing.
