He could play on my team any day. If you are Calgary you must get lundell in that trade. Huberdau is way too old and doesn't have term. - Slump Buster
He's 29 and doesn't play a heavy game, he's got probably another 6 years of elite play. |

Not sure it’s highway robbery by Florida. I think this could end up being a haul for Calgary even if both don’t want to resign there.
Calgary gets huberdeu, a first, plus possibly 2 more firsts at the TDL if the other two don’t want to sign long term

Toronto has an elite roster with the best goal scorer in hockey - sbroads24
Sure, as do other teams. Only one team can win it each year. The point wasn't that excellent young talent gets you a cup. The point was that you really can't win without it in today's league |

Tampa lost to Columbus because Vasy was dreadful. They then went to theee straight cups winning two because Vasy played like the best goalie in the world.
Tampa’s style didn’t change at all’s - Pegullaville
You legitimately cannot be serious
They were diving all over the ice blocking shots and clogging the neutral zone against Columbus?
They weren’t.
I’m a numbers guy. I get it. If you can’t tell the difference between teams who have that cup experience and knowing what it takes to get there I can’t help you.
Tampa beat Toronto because they did what they had to do and Toronto didn’t adjust |

And other than Colorado, played Tampa better than any team I’ve seen in 3 years.
Whomever won that series was going to the cup.

At the very least CGY (not CAL, Elliotte Friedman) can flip their new 115 point forward for another 1st. That's a super fun deal |

Florida's next first was a couple of years away. I love huberdau but you have to do better. Also, they would probably need to go eight for him. |

Tampa beat Toronto because of a phantom bs interference call in a game 7 that I saw not get called the rest of the playoffs.
However, if the Leafs did win the cup this year, you’d be jamming it down my throat that it was because of their previous attempts the last few years.
Give me the best roster in the league and luck and you have a chance to win a cup.
You can’t be serious that Nashville has a legit chance of a cup next year just because of playoff experience. |

I actually think Toronto was a slightly better team if only because Tampa was on fumes. That series was a tossup and I actually think the Leafs woild have given Colorado a better challenge.

They got a young star (now extended) for and aging star. I make that trade all day long |

This is what trying to win looks like
They just traded a 115 point player!
Nuts. This is one of the best trades in recent NHL history |

He will get a similar extension as tkachuck. Who would you rather have for the next eight years ? |

I honestly love it for both sides. Calgary gets 1 first guaranteed here, and they'll get at least one more later when they flip Huberdeau. I also admire the stones on the Panthers to pull the trigger here. This is a real hockey deal |

I never said every team that makes the playoffs can then go win the cup.
It is however very, very rare for a core to go from no playoffs to cup champs overnight without taking their lumps first. |

They were absolutely gassed and injured in even the Rangers series. |

It's huge
Calgary got a haul
Florida should have at least gotten a prospect or a pick
It's so one-sided. Calgary saved face in a ridiculous way |

A low first a couple of drafts away. As was pointed out in Twitter, an extended Mark Stone didn't get a first a couple of years ago. This is so much better for the Florida. |

You mean when a star player wants out you don’t just have to tuck your tail and go be bad for years on end ? |

Ironic part is, I think the Sabres got more for Eichel then Calgary will ultimately end up with when the dust settles.
Unless you think there is a remote chance Huberdeau or Weegar resigns.

Eichel should get more, but I don't think he did. A Huberdeau deadline deal would be worth a ton.

Curious if we'll see a quick extension. I'd guess not. Gotta be tough to leave Florida.
