#Seahawks star RB Chris Carson is retiring from the NFL due to a neck injury, sources say.

SEA will officially release him with a failed physical designation. Under the CBA, that allows Carson to receive several million in injury protection benefits. Seattle does right by him.

Actual goals against for defensive purposes is not used due to how much it can be skewed by subpar goaltending.
- kingcong39

Sure, I get that part. One would think that would reveal itself with the same disconnect across teammates though.

Could the same also be said in the case of a poor defender not properly shutting his guy down or being out of position? Or does the X part supposedly take most of them into consideratjon?

I think a lot of that depends on how he looks in camp, I don't want them to Nylander him, but if he looks the part that is going to be a tricky situation

I have confidence Adams will be careful with this.

I agree, I think him and his staff are doing a much better job of analyzing each players own development

if they were battling bjork for that last spot in the top 9, it would be an interesting decision

by bringing vinny back in the fold, there is not room for the 10 already primed for top 9 rolls, and that is excluding asplund

krebs-cozens-olofsson
peterka-casey-quinn
vinnie-asplund
bjork-girgens-okposo

in essence there is no open competition at training camp this fall, and they are probably sending either quinn or peterka down which IMO will be a mistake

- homiedclown

i have faith that if jjp and quinn are blowing doors down, that they will have no problem gluing bjork to the bench. probably means vinnie or krebs too on occasion. will be interesting to watch camp. there's absolutely competition at camp. quinn and jjp ought to make real noise.

He can, he got confused between two separate conversations one about Savoie (who can't go to Rochester) and Kulich (who potentially could)

I would hope that Bjork gets waived, and Vinnie is 13th...or he rotates in .
But your point of having 10 players for top 9 spots is still valid.

Thought that with Kulich. He got drafted pretty high by St. Breton, but would think if he doesn't make Rochester he goes back overseas for a year.

the thing with nylander is that I think physically he was able to compete in the AHL at 18. he had the tools and the size. but I think he had that stereotypical russian attitude. guys like semin and kovalev had.

Give him his 9 and then send him back, I don't like the not being able to play in the AHL rule.
- Stripes77

My thing has always been teams should get to declare one player "exceptional" status. You can have one currently-should-be-CHLer on your AHL team at a time

I like that thought, I doubt the CHL teams like it though

this org has an odd mindset when it comes to 'taking the L'. they'll still play him even though he's terrible simply because they acquired him. Bjork. Eakin. Sobotka. they refuse to bench useless players.

It'd basically take 32 D+1 players out of the CHL

They have no reason to concede it. I don't really understand the agreement anyways, what does the NHL even give them this for? Just as a good gesture?

Probably has something to do with development coaches from NHL teams hanging around their facility

True, very true.

Let's hope the young guys push hard enough to force the situation to come to a head.
