Jack Curry of YES Network reports that the Yankees are acquiring outfielder Andrew Benintendi from the Royals.
According to Joel Sherman of MLB Network, the Royals will get three minor league pitchers in right-handers Beck Way and Chandler Champlain along with left-hander TJ Sikkema. The Yankees were widely considered among the favorites to land the 28-year-old, who not only is hitting .320/.387/.398 in his 93 games, he also is considered an outstanding defender in left field. Benintendi won't help much with power -- at least based on what we've seen as of late -- but he should score runs and help in the average category while joining one of the best teams in the sport. Jon Heyman of MLB Network also reports that Benintendi will get vaccinated.

Players are probably just as hesitant to sign long term here.

I think KA has broken some records.

For sure.

Tage, for example.

If you're him, unless Adams and company are offering at least market value, if not an overpayment, why agree to extend this offseason if you have full confidence what you did last season was just the start of what you're going to do this coming season?

Might as well just wait until after this coming season when you produce the same or even better, when you'll have the hammer as the player.

How much would Columbus need to add to get the Sabres to be willing to take on Voracek's contract?

Was that bonus paid already this year. If it was the actual cash out for this year is what 1.5m and then goes up to 7.5m next year.

Nah.

Personally, I'm expecting another year of focus on growth and development.
I am looking for some young guys to take the next steps...Cozens Krebs, Mitts, Power, Dahlin, Asplund, Tage, Comrie...and solid consistency from Tuch, Skinner, Olofsson...all the while they work JJ and Quinn as regulars into top 9 roles.
Hopefully the leadership torch is passed from Okoso, Girgz and Hinostroz to Tuch, Dahlin, Cozens.

They do that, I'm pretty happy as it will enable Adam's to consolidate, package some assets to secure an upgrade via trade or two.

UFA signings for smart role players, not big splashes

- IonSabres

If this upcoming season goes the way we all want it to go (realistically) then making a big splash is less of a requirement and more of people screaming for the team to spend money.

Next year you have all your defensemen, your goalies and ten forwards. Hopefully bjork goes unqualified, but god forbid they let an "asset" walk. Okposo and Girgensons are off, but I'm willing to bet at least one of them are brought back. Savoie could compete for a spot. There's 12. If Mitts stalls again, go make a play for Horvat. (frank) it go pay MacKinnon a billion dollars. I won't listen to any counterarguments so don't bother. Kick Joker to the curb and go sign Damon Severson or Carson Soucy. Mac Weeger would be tots.

Based on Joker's history I think there's a fair chance he has a bounce back season. But he's still partner dependent and we could still upgrade him fairly easily, even if he does put up a better season. His best season of his young career was last year and he was still 3rd pairing quality.

That's why and I hope I am wrong and Joker keeps growing with Power, but I think Lyubushkin will eventually take that spot.

Biggest thing for me is, you don't have many opportunities when good Hockey Players become available for pretty cheap costs and your Team has the wealth of Assets to use to acquire such Players. I know what the Sabres are doing and I really like the internal growth. And yes they can jump in next year or so to acquire Players but now you don't have those extra 1sts and costs could be much higher. A season of growth and a lot of decisions for Adams on Players or we just continue the merry go round with the next set of prospects.
