Matthew Tkachuk contract is believed to be the 1st true sign and trade in #NHL history. Wouldn’t be surprised if this becomes a trend in the league moving forward.

The resurgence of the Canucks has to be tempered with the teams they were playing against didn't take them very seriously.
Once they got close the games got tougher and the losses started to build up again.
Some of the wins were against tired teams that the scheduler gifted them, known as scheduled wins in the industry.
The team was also playing with the peddle to the floor, maybe trying to add value in a trade play themselves off the team by looking more valuable.
The team still is capped out, has no defensive depth, at least two players they can't afford next year and 3 or 4 bad contracts to deal with.
To top it off the new management appear to be frightened to make a mistake and have ended up shooting themselves in the foot by waiting it out, so far it looks that way.
The new management has a golden opportunity to do just about anything without a fan revolt if it dismantling this mess left by Benning.

One thing they should not do is let the brand wither during the summer, they should try to keep the chatter about the team positive and continuing. Right now all fan dissapointment and ansk is because all there is/has been is the "same thing as Benning" has started to creep up, a loss of confidence in the management team.

Yeah I think you nailed it. That and I'll throw out that demko made the team look better than it was last year. With not much change, i'd hazard a good start to next year could be overly hyped if they're playing the same way. I don't think the team is horrible, I just think demko is that good that he can cover up a lot ... until we wear him out.

Ummm no….

You do realize Huberdeau outscored MT last season? And they got A 1st a prospect and Weegar as well?? If Hubs and Weegar don’t re-up they flip them for more assets. It’s an absolute steal for the Flames. Take a look at Turtles best season before last year. Take a look at how easy it was to get him off his game in round two. The Flames are going to be better off without that douche.

I posted that before the return was reported. They broke the news that he was traded to Florida during the Jays game.

It was a big deal. A couple of surprising names from both sides involved.

One player involved nixed it, Lou was pissed because of that, not because of some leak.

Friedman was right about the deal being close so even though he’s been kinda annoying these days, he still gets the scoops.

Smoke and Mirrors.

Once Boudreau said we need Miller back, all bets off.

So you think he re-signs, or it goes to the TDL?

Tough one. I just think they want to see what we have with a full roster under Boudreau. Decisions to be made close to TDL give then status of the club in the standings.

I'm up $238 at woodbine...been a good day!!

$$

Surprised the sign and trade hasn't been done before yesterday. That may well be the way the JTM situation unfolds if it goes on too long. Clearly Treliving isn't as patient as JR/PA.

A player with an NTC or M-NTC from NYI nixed it?

Don’t see Lee or Nelson either of being in the deal. Too much cap to take on & the offence they give to NYI. Besides it’s a lateral move.

Puloch RHD 8/6.15m maybe but again the cap hit but can fit him in & he’d make sense to fill a big need.

That leaves Pageau at 4/5m left.
Palmieri 3/5m makes no sense.

Using the above the best I can guess to piece together is…

Pageau/Wahlstrom/1st
Puloch/1st/Bellows

Purely speculating cuz I know shat lol

My uneducated guess is Canucks want 5yrs might go 6. Miller wants 7/8yrs. The money isn’t the big hang up til term is determined.

Resigning will be a grind & if not before Xmas he’ll be moved is my guess. Both sides should want it done much sooner. Best case scenario before October.

It’s 11-12 weeks til the season. Lots can happen in that time. Although tends to be a lull after the UFA silly season starts. Thinking there are a few big things still to happen.

2025 conditional 1st is a long wait for the Tkachuk trade. Could be but I doubt it the 2026 draft. Oof lol

Is that longest ever?

Huberdau not happy with the trade, flames probably flip him.
