You guys paid to move Kassian. He didn't net you a return of any kind.
- Retinalz

Wasn't a question of getting anything in return, just moving the contract off the books. Kassian required a fairly heavy sweetener, I don't think Foegele or Barrie would require as much. Regardless, buying out either would be a poor idea, which is where the conversation started, since they are the only 2 contracts the Oil should be thinking of ditching.

Oilers
VGK
Kings Canucks Flames throw a dart
Ducks
Sharks
Seattle

I love how some folks have the Oil on top now when 90% of the posters in here had them missing the PO's. But I had them out in the 2nd round.

VGK is gonna struggle for a bit IMO.

Oilers
Canucks

After that start tossing darts.

2nd-3rd slots are up for grabs IMO.

More and more reasons to go C/D/G heavy in drafts. Wingers are easier to upgrade.

Why deserves? He is owed nothing he has to seize it. He’s at risk of going to Abby.
- Nighthawk

Excellent rookie campaign. Injuries and Boudreau's doghouse a bit in the sophomore year. I think they should look at him hard for the 3rd line then move him up as injuries strike.

Old regime. Good rookie season. Deeper F depth. He’ll be given every chance but ends there. He has to push somebody out & not by a close margin either. He’s waiver exempt & that is on his head to have a great camp.

If I were GM…

I fully expect to build on last season.
Zero excuses for F lines to not be as good or should be even better.
The PK no choice to be better.
In goal no worries except a Demko injury. A big concern if he does.
The D is the big question mark. They won’t be worse but will there be reasonable improvement? Team D could be better & help them breakout.

Is this all reasonable? Discuss

You don't think Hogs deserves a chance to bounce back?
- LordHumungous

I think he may have lost his chance…he may need injuries to get another chance….or a trade

He needs a fantastic camp or huge AHL season. Anything less & he’s a goner at some point. No hate just honest. Expiry date is a real thing for every kid trying to make the show.

So what if he has a much better camp and preseason than Kuzmenko?

I’d say regardless, Kuzmenko is getting a shot in the top 9. Sure if he sucks after 20 games.

If Kuz struggles in camp, he should be getting acclimated in Abby before he mucks up the top 9 for 20 games.

Kuzmenko isn’t going to Abby. Hog has to impress to avoid Abby. Hog is already behind Boeser Garland Miky Pod & probably Kuz already on the depth chart. Pearson is even ahead imo leaves 1 spot in the top 9 to compete for.

He had it easy with competition in his rookie season. Time is passing him if he doesn’t figure it out. The soph season means squat to a GM & coach. No excuses

Bo miller Boeser kuz elias Mik Pearson podz Garland are all ahead of Hog. That’s 9 forwards. He doesn’t belong on the 4th line. He needs an injury to get a chance

Doesn’t matter what happens to Miller or Garland. All that matters is Hog get it in gear or he’ll be old news like so many prospects over the years.

Hard to say as things even out a bit. But in this cap era teams are really struggling to keep 4-5 same core players on the roster. I can see it staying similar for a bit.
- LordHumungous

Looking at a few of the lower teams, they should be a bit better. Others like Chi will be much worse though

He isn’t playing in the A. Unless he has a Virtanen like off-season. Every team in the league tried to sign this kid. He signed in Van because he was promised a shot in the top 6. Throw him in the A if you don’t want to sign a Russian for awhile

He has a 200’ game on all accounts when Hog doesn't. Hog isn’t top 6 material & with his D being sub par not even 3rd line. 4th line nah. We don’t hide players anymore.
