Unlike Tkachuk, who was willing to go to 4 or more teams PLD seemingly has handcuffed the Jets with his insistence of only signing long term with the Habs in 2 years. I hope they will get a return from some team before or by the trade deadline that will help the Jets in the near future. Maybe NYR will part with either Lafrienier of Kappo at the deadline. Unfortunately the Jets are not in a position of strength trading PLD.

Just like Jacob Trouba, PLD has 0 trade protection. Who knows what Montreal’s cap situation is going to be in 2 years. He may make the decision that though he wants to play in Montreal that he would have to take a significant pay cut. I say hold onto him and qualify him again next year.

PLD may want to play in Montreal, the question though is does Montreal want him to play for them?

Had a chuckle with treliving’s comment today.

"You can crawl into the fetal position and suck your thumb or you can deal with it. We’re going to deal with it,” Treliving told reportersin regards to how the past couple weeks have gone.

Chevy?!! No comment?!!

Trouba had no protection yet in the end he told Chevy he'd only go to the Rangers and thats where he was traded to.

The Habs will have lots of cap space in two years and will have plenty next offseason for a long term Dubois extension. If Chevy takes some cap back they can extend long term this season.

No player has tried to get out of Winnipeg with as much force and detriment to the Jets as Dubois has.

I agree, really don't think Chevy has much leverage in this situation, even as a good one or two year rental I doubt the return will be all that great for Dubois.

I think it'll be a bit better of a return than Copp got, probably a better prospect than Barron was with a 3rd/4th liner in the deal and maybe a B/C grade prospect.

To me the Habs have some interesting prospects, have collected a lot of decent picks and have some players that could help the Jets, theres a decent trade for the Jets with Montreal if Chevy takes some cap back and realizes he isn't going to get a Dubois level player in return for Dubois.

Thinking that a 3 way trade is needed to resolve the PLD situation.

MTL- ARIZ - WPG

Suggestions ?

A hometown interview with Barry Trotz, about an hour long. interesting stuff about leafs at 1hr mark, talked about turning down the jets, staying sharp as a coach. Barry does most of the talking

With pld signed for 6m he will be very valuable at the trade deadline for a playoff club, hopefully it’s the Jets. A playoff run and then 1 more year somewhere.

I think wheeler gets moved before anyone else. Veteran, powerful, 1st line pp specialist who can be versatile in supporting role if needed. The contract and 5 team trade clause limits the return, I suspect the Jets will take less in return or add a pick rather than retain cap hit. Thanks BW for your years of service to the Jets and for Manitoba.

Please explain, why would a third team need to be involved in a PLD trade and why Arizona?

I think Wheeler remains a Jet cause no one wants him aside from maybe Maurice.

1) Montreal has very little of interest to offer us, other than Suzuki.

2) AZ has cap space to take on a bad contract from Montreal. Drouin ?

3) Maybe we could somehow get Chychrun ?

PLD just clarified his position. He does not want out.

Again all media driven BS....

He is going to wait for the salary cap to go up prior to signing longterm. If I was a player that believed in myself, I would only sign one year deals to in-order to maximize my earnings.

Hoping that Chevy comes back from the cottage and bring in Kadri.

He also said I have no interest in signing longer than one year. If you watched that and thought this guy was interested in being here long term, I can’t help you. He won’t be in here in two years.

Kadri won’t come here
Bjorkstrand had winnipeg on his no trade list
We have offered contracts to multiple UFAs that all chose other teams

Quit making excuses for Chevy he had no intention of changing his roster. Scheifele Wheeler and 2 defensemen were suppose to be on their way out, none of that materialized.

He’s great friends with Ehlers. They had Stastny call Schmidt last year, how come they did not allow Ehlers to do the same?

Oh I see, a few things..

Arizona apparently wants a ridiculous amount for Chycrun and doesn't seem like they've backed down from their ask so to give them what they want and be compensated to take the Habs unwanted parts seems like a cumbersome and costly trade to make.

I think the Jets should just take back some cap from Montreal to make it work, actually think getting Drouin(not only Drouin) wouldn't be the worst thing, he played with Ehlers in junior, maybe he rebounds here and can be convinced to stay(at a lower contract rate obviously).

Dvorak and Armia are both signed for three more years, could be good for a team that can't attract or keep players to get a couple with term, again wouldn't be just those two but with a decent draft pick like Florida's 1st which the Habs have and a prospect it wouldn't be the worst return.

I just don't see Chevy getting a Suzuki or PLD level player for PLD nor do I see him getting any teams stud prospect for Dubois.

I hope I'm wrong and Chevy can get a haul for Dubois but I'm not hopeful that'll happen.

Not to make excuses for Chevy but there's a good chance no one wants any of the Jets dmen.. lol

I think that's whats keeping Wheeler in a Jets jersey too, no one wants him.

I do not know about no one wanting Wheeler. He’s making $4 million in actual salary, while carrying a 8 million cap hit. The guy can still produce at a PPG and is great on the power play. Hard to find guys like that in the league….

In fact I would still like to keep him, as I think he would make for a great 3rd line winger at this point in his career.
