Never mind. I just saw the cap recalculation.
The face of the franchise? That wasn't a great decade. Tkachuk is what they needed in the playoffs. - Only_A_Ladd
You guys can have him he isn’t all that. you will soon see. bad signing for the panthers he isn’t worth 9.5 |

If that happens, doesn't it usually turn into an unprotected pick the following year? - Squeaky
I think so. They will probably suck even more in 2026, so i'd go for that. |

Double UFA is a gamble, but as a non-Calgary fan I would love this deal |

2025 1rst round pick is top 10 protected. That kinda sucks, since FLA could very well be very bad again in 2 years 😅
I would've liked to get our own Bowen Byram or Tim Stutzle. - redseerpf
Problem is the Flyers own Florida's 2024 1st (top 10 protected), if it is in the top 10 then then the Flyers receive 2025 1st (Unprotected far as I can see).
Does that mean Calgary gets the 2026 1st from Florida instead or other compensation?

CGY wins this trade and it’s not even close. It’s hard to say any team that received a player like Tkachuk got fleeced, but FLA came as close to being fleeced as you can get. |

Hopefully they know what it'll take to extend Huberdeau tonight and he's cool with it. The biggest problem is they absolutely should be a playoff team again after that trade so trading Huberdeau at the deadline won't really be an option.
I can't believe Florida didn't just use that money to extend Huberdeau.
If no one else gets moved, Calgary might have the best defence group in the league. Unfortunately, last time we thought that before the season, it was a disaster. - Squeaky
Like to see a Huby extension fast so as to gauge a Miller contract. |

Great move by FLA. Huberdeau is 30 at the start of his next contract which will be enormous. They got a comparable player locked up who is 5 years younger. Weegar is a loss, for sure. But FLA now has 6.1mm in space to sign Kadri. - Only_A_Ladd
FLA is $3,375,834 in the red in cap. |

What would it take to get Tanev out of Calgary? What would Flames deem a fair return from Ottawa? Just curious. |

Not happening unless the Flames are out of it at the deadline. He's also going to miss a chunk of the year after surgery. |

Would you be interested in Weegar for Thomson and a 1rst round pick (top 3 prot.)?

I doubt Tanev is on the block. He is still one of the premier defensive defensemen in the league.
I might be a bit biased, as I am a pretty big Tanev fan. Great defenseman. |

Yeah Tanev is way too important to the Flames’ success. Would be a no-go unless the season burned down. He’s worth a good amount. |

Agreed.
As a Canucks fan, I was okay seeing him go, hoping for a rebuild.
My dreams were shattered, when the traded for Nate fu cken Schmidt.

If the Flames are out of it at the deadline, maybe then Calgary moves him, Tanev would be better for 2 playoffs to any team, rather than waiting until the summer. Get more in return.

I still think one of our D could be available at the right price. I thought Kyllington plays both sides. |
