Huberdeau at 29 skates better than Tkachuk at 24

Tkachuk has great hands around the net but his line mates carried the puck

- flashfire

Huberdeau (June 93) and Gaudreau (Aug 93) have a 2 month age difference. They ended the season with the same point totals.

As you note Huberdeau is an excellent skater and has lots of career miles still to go.

Calgary did okay on the trade.

On the other side of the deal, Tkachuk playing with Barkov looks very strong in terms of trying to find a good match up combination to play against them. You want that strong physical presence in the playoffs and I think Florida added to their chances of going deeper in the playoffs.

I think Treliving just started. He's been too quiet all summer. I think something else is going to happen.

100% we have 10 D men on one way deals next year...could be smaller stuff (Kylington, Vali) for picks or maybe something bigger (Weeger, Hani) but something has got to give.

I think Andersson might be available, but it would cost a fortune.

For a fortune maybe but I think he wears a letter next year in Calgary and plays on the #1 pair.

What about Cole Schwindt ? Rt. shot centre, only 21. Is he any good ? Got into 3 games last year anyway.

Huberdog not a Sutter player he hate checking and loves floating. And he won't resign for that low FL salary with all those taxperks.

Pretty great return for that idiot Tkachuk.

No doubt the Habs would be interested in a homegrown talent, but at 29 and fat deal on the horizon, seems very unlikely. Any player over the age 25/26 doesn't fit the profile of a team in full rebuild mode

Mange will get eaten alive if he plays top line non-sheltered minutes. He's pretty much the perfect 2nd liner, but no more.

There’s no way the Flames don’t finish top 2 in the Pacific. Vezina goaltending, great defence, additions of Pelletier and Mangiapani getting top line minutes and more pp time.
I would love to see a rebuild, but don’t believe ownership will allow one.

Rubes is busy reading 'Hockey for Dummies' this am...

He's just pissy as I told you all the Flames would be much better off with JG and the Turtle gone.

I don’t think flames fans paid much attention to Florida last year. Hub did great but also had the 4th best Centre in the nhl to help. Elias is ranked 38th. Flames lost 13 & 19 and got back Hub who is a great player and also got a 2nd pairing RD. Trade won by Calgary if Hub re-signs. If he leaves it will be hard to attract any players willing to come to Calgary. Oilers fans know that all too well

I could see this in any order with VGS or LAK fighting for WC. Still think Trev has a deal or two left.

Ranked by who? Lindholm was the glue on that line and the most consistent/reliable 1C they have had in long time. Hubs-Lindy-Mags is cool top line. If Kadri also gets signed look out.

Wow! That’s very high praise for Sam Bennett, and coming from an Oiler fan.
Huberdeau played with Duclair and Bennett last year.

Great trade by our riverboat gambler who didn't have much leverage. Huberdeau is not a two-way player but Sutter can help as he did with Gaudreau.

When Mange signs we'll likely have around 4 or 5 million of cap space. Kadri isn't coming, stop dreaming.

With all those D something has to give but I don’t see Kadri signing here.

Attach Florida 1st and Valamaki for a prospect to a team with room (ie Holtz). Not impossible though still unlikely.
I'd love to see what a package would look like to get Wahlstrom out of NYI but then having to resign all 3 next year would be harder.
Smaller move most likely but plenty of D assets to flip/make room as needed.

Weegar is a very good two-way RD, too good to play on 3rd pairing. Also, we have too many left-shot D. Still much more to come from Treliving.
