Matthew Tkachuk contract is believed to be the 1st true sign and trade in #NHL history. Wouldn’t be surprised if this becomes a trend in the league moving forward.

I don’t think flames fans paid much attention to Florida last year. Hub did great but also had the 4th best Centre in the nhl to help. Elias is ranked 38th. Flames lost 13 & 19 and got back Hub who is a great player and also got a 2nd pairing RD. Trade won by Calgary if Hub re-signs. If he leaves it will be hard to attract any players willing to come to Calgary. Oilers fans know that all too well

Lindholm was a Selke finalist and both his wingers got over 100pts. Much better than 38th.

An honourable deal that allowed both the Flames and the player to be winners. Makes Gaudreau's agent look like a complete moron. If they had bargained in good faith last year Tre might have been able to make a deal with the Devils to be completed after the playoffs.

This, from SN scouting expert, Jason Bukala, who drafted Cole Schwindt:
“Outstanding in faceoff circle.
Big body.
Can also play wing & slide over to win key draws.
He’s a 3c on the horizon
Average plus NHL scoring upside/secondary score.
PK, match up well.
Bleeds character.”

OMG You think Darryl will like this guy?

They need center depth. Hopefully he can provide competition in the bottom 6.

I’m sure Sutter had a bit of say in this trade.

Huberdog not a Sutter player he hate checking and loves floating. And he won't resign for that low FL salary with all those taxperks.
- THE EVIL WITHIN

Agree on the potential difficulty resigning. At 29 it will be nearing Huberdeaus' last shot at a lucrative signing with some length.

With Lucic and Monys' contracts expiring we should be in a position to pay Huberdeau what he is worth.

I think the label " not a Sutter player" is some what over hyped. A big part of that philosophy involves puck possession. They can't score if they don't have the puck.

Huberdeau racked up 85 assists last year with a plus 35 and a career plus 41.

Those translate to strong puck possession numbers.

Huberdeau is a strong skater and with a little bit of Sutter "tweaking" will be a huge two way asset.

FLA is $3,375,834 in the red in cap.

Hey if Tampa Bay Lighting can be over the cap, so can the Panthers, ha.
