There was no headache in the Tkachuk negotiation?? I would think not. He's now way overpaid. And why would Huberdeau not want to stay and sign an extension. Huberdeau had 115 pts. Can he do it again? Probably. Can Tkachuk? We shall see. His high mark previous to last season was 77 pts

Unfortunately. Huberdeau knows he is a component of Montreal's blueprint. The Panthers wisely cut-bait before the inevitable. As Trelving knows this, he is aware a vast overpay will be needed to retain Huberdeau's services beyond this season. My sense is Huberdeau will be flipped at the deadline for picks and/or prospects.

The value of the Tkachuk trade likely wont be known for years, but it is generally unlikely anything of equal value will emerge from the incoming picks and prospects.

3. Tkachuk is as offensively talented as Huberdeau, but adds an extra layer of agitation and snarl. Tkachuk is annoying to play against.

4. Panthers were looking to move MacKenzie Weegar's $3.25 million salary as a cost-saving move.

#3. Maybe Tkachuk will outproduce Huberdeau in the future due to age differences, but Huberdeau has been a superior offensive player at both ES and PP. So expecting equal offensive production of Tkachuk is very optimistic.

#4. Trading away a strong dman in his prime on a steal of a deal like Weegar is an extremely dumb cost-saving move.

I guess only you and BT know that he is signing in MTL. He was set to break all records in FLA, was expecting a tough negotiation from FLA for his next deal, and was dealt before they started talking. A career Panther player all of a sudden is part of MTL's plans and his hidden agena was to go to MTL? Every French Canadian wants to go to MTL. Every Calgary born player wants to go to Calgary. Tkachuk born in Arizona wants to go to FLA. Matthews wants to go to Arizona. McDavid wants to go to Toronto.

I disagree, Huberdeau is a superstar with a fantastic cap hit for 1 more year. CGY can easily get a 1st round pick + for him probably especially if they retain a couple mil to really sweeten the deal. They can likely get a 1st for Weegar as well.

Here's the thing about 1st round draft picks. Everyone goes on like a 1st round pick is golden. There are 32 1st round picks, and on average maybe 2 of them will become as good as Huberdeau or Tkachuk. The majority of 1st round pick never live up to expectations.

Sure, but it doesn't mean the pick is useless and it heavily depends on the year too. A 1st round pick in 2015 was very valuable as a lot more than 2 of them became elite players. Supposedly this 2023 draft class is strong whereas 2022 was weak.

its coming from Huberdeau mouth in this case my friend..Quote from article April 2021

The Quebecer has always wanted to play with the Habs. Huberdeau made this confidence to host Louis Jean and subscribers of the «Club des 10 de la Fondation du CHUM», at the time.

"For sure you wonder if you'll be able to play for Montreal. It's a beautiful city and that's where I'm from. It's always been a dream to play for Montreal," explained the St. Jerome native.'

Hidden Agenda really ? it could happen but it couldnt happen... Lecavalier or St louis will call him soon enough

Take a look at the part of your post he highlighted when he said lol. Tkachuk "confirmed" nothing. But good job spinning, as usual.

Overpay by Florida for a guy who just had what will be his best season next to linemates who elevated him immensely..... more power to Tkachuk to cash in as the opportunity presented itself.... 9.5 million, seriously.... get ready for 1 season of star level success translating into salary cap hell for teams in the league..... this contract is insane, but then again Florida has Bob under a ridiculous contract as well

Players have been known to use MTL to get better contract terms on the UFA market. Take what he says with a big grain of salt, what was he supposed to say, I hate MTL and never want to play there?

We will see next summer if Huberdeau goes to market as a UFA and the same for Dubois in 2024. That's if they don't sign with another team before that.

Narrowed it down to 3-4 teams....St.Louis, Dallas (Texas), Florida...read between the lines. What did you expect him to come out and say it, so whiny little female doges like you could scurry to Twitter in hopes to cancel him?

Cancel what? I respect the way he did things and it got him to where he wants to be. And the Flames got a good return.

I was responding solely to nonsense from your previous posts and you followed it up with nonsense in your "rebuttal". Par for the course.
