So Matty prime is probably right now as well last season, will he keep up the pace? Probably not the same with JG of course you need good players to have your prime time worth it and maximize the most out of it. I do not discount how good they are but the return for Matty will be worth it if we keep said players or not, at least the flames have time bought for them and maybe lots even with how it plays out. I look forward to the season for sure. |

He very well could be on Barkov’s wing now.
Does MT have any kind of reputation as a partier? Idk, something in the press conference made me wonder if he might, um, get “distracted” down here in South Florida.

Don’t be so simple. To calculate the difference is difficult, but in general, lower-income Canadians pay less in tax for the services they receive and rich Americans are better off than rich Canadians.
So for all the “average Joe” Canadians who go on about the low taxes in the US, they have no (frank)ing clue what they are talking about. - bloatedmosquito
My cousin who is an anesthesiologist at a private clinic in the States says something quite different my friend. Differences in taxes from State/State compared to Canada is quite a lot on various levels. Some States he's worked he'll pay 12-15% tax where if he was operating in Canada he would be in a 30-40% tax bracket. Not sure what platform you are going on but it's quite different. You can apply the same to NHL players for the most part as well. |

What's going on with Ruzicka, is it because the QO is two-way? |

Does Backlund keep his #11?
And who will wear a "C" this year or will they go another year without naming a captain? |

He mentioned in his first interview and at the presser, lifestyle as a big factor in his decision...

But you said it in your first sentence. At a private clinic... for multi-millionaires I doubt its as big a consideration but for joe-q-public, cost of living vs taxes and access are driving factors. Our healthcare system is f'd but at least I don't need to take out a second mortgage to have (some) surgeries or visit a doctor. Meh, I'll never see that kind of money save my LottoMax investments paying out. |

Vegas over cap & have players to sign, I like the idea of getting our Swedish gang to take W Karlsson on a fishing trip & convince him Calgary is the Swedish place to be. Flick Vegas Zary & a 3rd or 4th & we just got our #2 C. Vegas get just under 6.0 mill of valuable cap space. |

Pretty sure they’ve been shopping Karl hard. Not sure who is on his 10 team No Trade list. With Eichel healthy and Stephenson there is no need for Karl. |

Could be a good fit here. Backlund had a great playoff but over the long season he is much more suited to be a 3rd line C. |

I agree, he's more of a 3C. Backlund is our second line centre because he's the only one available and also because of his salary. I think we are so thin in the middle that we should probably trade for a young 2C. I haven't checked, but it could be with the Senators or Devils being loaded in the middle and there's no spot available for that player. In our prospects pool, we have 3rd and 4th line centres but no 2Cs. We're keeping Backlund for his last two years and bringing that player up when he's ready. |

Yeah Karlsson is 29 but he would be pretty cheap to acquire because of the Cap on Vegas. Also the 2 big pieces we got for Tkachuk are in that age group, so it would make sense. We could always flip hanafin for that cheap young up & coming future #2 centre. |

After what Columbus got for Bjorkstrand, I don’t see having to part with all this to help Vegas out. OB had 28 goals last year. |

lol what does it matter if it's 408K or what he started at which was 120K in the States?
He's lived in three states and in Ontario as well should I write him to explain the tax differences to you??

His numbers are wrong either way. He's not including federal tax in his American numbers and he is in the Canadian ones.
The only way you're in the 12-15% tax bracket in the States is if you're making less than 40k. |

I don’t think you understand the conversation. Or more likely, you are in an anti-Canadian space right now. This whole covid thingy has really (frank) with your psyche. |
