Carol Schram: State Of The Pacific: Sizing Up Canucks' Competition For Next Season Pt. 2 The Calgary Flames, Vegas Golden Knights and San Jose Sharks will all look very different when they line up against their Pacific Division rivals from Vancouver next season.

Thanks Carol!

Remember the surprising mid season standings that had both Anaheim and San Jose in, or close to in a playoff spot? Crazy.

Agree, the Sharks will have a tough time. The Knights feel a bit Canuck like, I’m that if everything goes right they could be tops in the division, but if they stray even a little their quest will fail.

Think Flames will still likely be in the mix for top 3 in the division.

Really appreciated this comment,

they're also working against the curse of Jack Eichel, who still has yet to dress for a single NHL playoff game.

After Edmonton, Calgary & LA I think the division is wide open. Unless the Canucks improve their defence I don’t think they can get into the top three.

Don’t like 90%+ of all off-season signings/trades happen by the end of the first 2 weeks of free agency?

After this last wave of UFA’s sign, teams are pretty much set until we get to PTO/Waiver season

Yup, a couple of MTA's and they can pick up a few scraps from the junk pile.
That and a full year under Boudreau and they will be competing for a wildcard spot.

Solely all about the D? Nothing else at all as in EG the PK or a full season of new coaches?

They’ve actually improved the PK quite a bit, I agree with Lefty, D is still the biggest factor for this team.
