They have to be inclusive of everyone, that's not just a school policy it's basic (frank)ing parenting. Or do you kick your gay kids out of the family?
- golfingsince

Then answer the question... should your elementary school kid be taught that transitioning from one gender to the next and if the parents do not agree that they're told to either put their kids in a private school or else that they're transphobic and/or racist and/or a Karen/Ken or whatever derogatory adjective you'd like to name someone who cares about their kid and to not have them confused at a young age? Should children who haven't even entered puberty be taught about sex (beyond the basic biology, hygeine and what have you) and about promiscuity and about sexuality without parental consent?

Like I should really be talking about being outside lol

Los of yard work to do with a stretch off work but cannot motivate with it in the high 30’s. Need a lot of yard tools after tossing them we moved would help & a truck would help. Next week it’ll cool down & time to get off my ass. Gotta quit procrastinating. What a wonderful word for lazy 😂😂

Those are very legitimate concerns, I do not believe that the teachers and unions advocate for any of that. I believe the special interest groups are the organizations pushing for inclusion.

It should be the board and the province that determines what is acceptable and when it is acceptable. My niece is a elementary teacher, I know she doesn't pound the drum for any of the topics you listed.

So you advocate that parents should set what is taught and at what age? So what happens when 49% are adamite that this subject is a no no, and 51% say yes should be included, do you concede to the 51%, or Karen and Ken are on a rant that sex ed is non christian and should never be taught until marriage, concede to the Karen and Ken parent?

Which parent group, how many dictate a change, who is oversight, obviously not the board or province...parents are now in charge

Need a trade to open Cap... if he were to be an option. Not that I am advocating that way.
- SMP8719

Looked at moving cap so often I lost interest. Price is too high for us & not in a position to move picks/assets to do so. No surprise JR/PA say one thing but nothing has happened. Not blaming them but it is now their team to find a way.

I was more referring to kids who are on-line continuously, from a very young age and don't participate in any sort of activities, with other kids, other than on-line.
I have had the joy of trying to train some of these kids, in the field and they are almost untrainable.
BTW, I have been training many co-workers for over 30 years and some of these kids are the hardest to train, as they not only have next to zero social skills, but they don't even know some basic tools, like a shovel or hammer.

So do we need the express written consent of every parent for the subject matter taught? Aren't kids learning these thing because of their peers and their parents?

I find it comforting that my 13 year old kid is accepting of all the genders and pronouns. She's far more accepting than I am so that means we're evolving. Even then, she has ideas about what is real and what is a plea for attention.

Maybe your kids would benefit from a more open minded environment? Reformation hasn't been very effective.

Which is what makes it so funny when people associate those things with millenials/Gen Z. The people critisizing those things are usually pretty damn close to the generation that invented it

Sorry I just get defensive when the topic of video games is thrown around as being harmful, I feel pretty strongly that they are a force of good more often than bad.

I've said this many a time to my daughters, feel free to respect everyone's choices, but if you see someone with a penis in your bathroom or locker room then I don't care what they identify with, that is not ok. And it has happened where they had to see a MtF in the locker room changing in front of them because of 'inclusion'. I complained first to the principal, then to the school board and I was told flat out that the policy is that if they identify as female then it is their right to use the bathroom or locker room of their choice. And mind you, this is not high school either, which while not ok, at least a teenager would be mature enough to handle that sort of situation. This was in an elementary school.

Parent arent educated educators. Period. Educators and Education bords determine curriculum. Parents can make complaints to said boards. Let professionals do their jobs, much like hockey your opinions are just that in comparison to decision makers that live in that world and know much better.

The bath room situation should be resolved. I don't think anyone would care if it was. They need personal washrooms, 1 person per washroom unless parent and child.

I haven’t agreed how the direction of education has gone but I’m old school & not in the position to really chime in. What I can offer up is parenting is more of the problem as I see it. Not all parents but far too many for my liking. Spoiling kids & not investing enough time in hands on activity is the big part. Before we moved this was a city issue I found to my distaste. Kids had far too much lounging time & electronics & pandering rather than structure. At home is where they learn most. Schooling is only 5-6hrs of their day M-F. Given in my day there was less distractions but in time many parents have not instituted what their kids need to do vs keeping up with the Jones’s attitude. Cel phones, gaming consoles & the internet take up far too much of kids time in their formative years. Valuable time is lost forever.

Growing up my mom loved scrabble so we played it a lot. Grandparents cribbage & bridge. I found scrabble helped me for vocabulary & scoring to compete. Cribbage an affinity for numbers & very basic skills to build on that helped me immensely moving on towards school & adulthood. Confidence in both were the 2 basic building blocks for all other courses.

Not to mention all bathrooms should be universal in public places. That's how they do it in many places in Europe and holy (frank) is it more efficient.

I'm genuinely curious what you think the danger is? Like what specifically makes you so fired up about that situation?
