It wasn't trial by Jury and the trial was over very very quickly. Clearly there was a complete lack of evidence from the accuser.

He sure looked incapable of forcing himself on her when he was feebly flopped down on her lap puking while she stroked his hair... if it was allegedly before that, it hardly looks like she felt sexually assaulted.

I'll assume he's not guilty. I'm not letting my dislike for this person mark him a sexual offender.

It isn’t an accuser that has to provide evidence, it’s the prosecution (crown, or whatever the hell we call it here). They sure did a piss poor job of putting their case together if it was over that quickly.

I didn’t watch/follow/pay attention to any of the proceedings, nor the videos on social media. I don’t care if he did or didn’t do these things.

Dude does seem like a bit of a douche bag, glad he’s moving on.

Trading Miller for the kid who was selected with the draft pick given up to acquire Miller would be so Canuck.

Miller for Severson has a very Hall for Larrson vibe...i'd want some more from NJD to provide a little security

weird, the article i read talked about jury deliberating...
anyways, i'm just saying a millionaire athlete getting away with sexual assault is not exactly surprising or unexpected, unfortunately.

- dbot

Ok, I'm wrong about the Jury but that was a pretty quick trial for a Jury trial...

The accuser doesn't do the prosecution's job obviously but for her accusation to make it onto the prosecutions desk, the accuser has to make a complaint to the police and the police present the case to the prosecutor. The accuser has to present enough of a case for a formal police investigation to take place or it's not warranted... and that investigation needs to produce enough evidence for the prosecution to go to trial. Otherwise, prosecution rejects the case as a waste of time more or less.

Sounds like she hurt her credibility with the jury on the stand after her statement was she didnt consent to kissing but on her cross examination, admitted she did consent to kissing.

Yes, that’s what I said. If the VPd didn’t believe they had enough they wouldn’t have brought it to the lawyers, and if the lawyers didn’t think they had enough they wouldn’t have given the go ahead for formal charges. Either way, as I said off the top, being “innocent” of something and being “not guilty” of that thing are not necessarily the same thing.

Some lawyers lawyer better than other lawyers. The Chewbacca defense does work.

Anyway, whatever. He’s not a Canuck anymore, he’ll probably sign in Carolina, or Tampa or Montreal for $750k…

Interesting tidbit….

So my wife and I are in a restaurant in Bracebridge, Ontario, ‘Wabora’….Japanese Cuisine, with a friend of hers and her husband when she says, “oh there’s Bo”. I turn around and it’s Bo Horvat. She owns a takeout place in Gravenhurst on Lake Muskoka and apparently he orders takeout a lot from her place.

ANYWAYS….while he’s waiting for his takeout he comes and sits down with us and we’re having idle chitchat, he’s just a kid and a bit nervous, we tell him we’re Canucks fans from the West Coast but we now live in Scottsdale. He says, “oh man I’d way rather live in Scottsdale.”

He’s definitely not re-signing in Vancouver, he’s signing in Arizona

Cases still end up in court from time to time when they shouldn't. I had a charge of driving while suspended when I thought I was simply just not driving with a valid drivers license. I told the cop I never was informed of any suspension. He could have radioed in and got confirmation that I in fact had not signed for the double registered mail informing me of this. I decided to defend myself in court because I knew the suspension wasn't valid. I was surprised the prosecution overlooked the lack of signature. Sure enough, the Judge looked at the prosecution when I said I was never served the suspension and asked her where the confirmation was? She shrugged and he then laid into her for wasting everyone's time. It should have never ended up in a court room.

Lucky for me I moved and the mail notice went to my old address because I hadn't tried to reinstate my license yet. I had served a 6 month suspension gave to me by the courts and what happened is the Supervisor of Motor vehicles decided to override their decision and give me a year. The reason I only got 6 months is I drove a person who couldn't breath during a asthma attack to the hospital and they called the cops on me for smelling like booze and driving away. Judge considered it and gave me a break stating I should have taken a cab home and all would have been forgiven. He was right...

Because he would rather live in Scottsdale than southern Ontario?

Perhaps it was his way of giving a compliment rather than showing pity for where some idiot moved from BC.

Do you sit around with hockey cards imagining you are conversing with those players? A tea party with a half dozen hockey cards?
