Right on! Giving parents MORE influence is definitely not the answer. I get a kick out of those parents who accompany their adult child to job interviews. That just blows my mind.

That's a fairly broad generalization. Video games aren't inherently harmful, it's more that kids who spend all day every day gaming instead of socializing often have neglectful or lazy parents.

They're levelling. I don't expect they'll drop much except for possibly Halifax. Halifax housing went crazy, like Vancouver crazy.

Sorry I just get defensive when the topic of video games is thrown around as being harmful, I feel pretty strongly that they are a force of good more often than bad.

Also, some vacation properties will get adjusted.

I guess one good thing about video games is they allow parents to just send the kids to the room and not have to deal with trying to instill values or playing sports or other things that my generation values.

There are many good things about video games, even some that are good for your mind and coordination. It's like everything else, excess is the problem. My daughter is playing minecraft with her friends at the moment.

I think your generation is the same as mine. My parents wanted me to play sports and travel as much as I could. They were successful in getting me to do both but I would still say that TV was my babysitter for most of my youth.

We were always outside as kids unless weather wouldn't permit it. We didn't even have TV at the cottage so reading was required on rainy days and at night. My kids are coming tenting with me for the next 10 days.

Crib is an excellent game, not only strategies, but also learning some basic math skills.

Choices. Life is about choices!
I got the 1 shot J&J, it allows me to travel freely. Owning a place in another country would be useless if I couldn’t use it.
Some people think lesser of those for their choices and it really none of their business. I’ve got many unvaxed friends, that was their choice.

In all fairness to you and all else that's totally fine you make your choices. Knowing what we know now (and then lol) about the vaccines they never should have been mandated for travel or handcuff/coerce folks like that especially for their jobs. And now we are finally seeing the results from it with major staffing shortages. Many I know got it 'just to travel' and 'keep their job' most regret it to this day. Choices have consequences I get it...however certain things surrounding immunization should have NEVER been approved. But hey, all you need to do is look at world leadership at the moment and where it's going.

I have many vaxxed friends and that's all good. 90% I know will not be going anywhere near a booster dose and rightfully so. Is what it is...

Here's a thought, take the power away from the teacher's unions to be able to politicize their classrooms and the curriculum and education in general and give that power back to parents for a change. Maybe focus solely on things like reading, writing and arthematic and actually have consequences for failure and breaking rules and the like instead of waggling fingers and making excuses and giving out participation awards. Maybe if we celebrate actual achievement instead of mediocrity, society might improve a whole lot. Might actually make children less sensitive and able to handle the real world instead of being selfish entitled and easily offended brats that spout ideology and dogma rather than actual rational thought and critical thinking and proper debate.

Yes, and then those teachers turned around and decided to make school into daycare centers and took the ability of parents to teach their own kids their own values and indoctrinated them into their own. The pendulum's swung way too far away from where it should be. And note that it's parents that pay those teacher salaries with their property taxes that have the school tax added to it. Having no say at all is just as bad as having too much say.

If I have a problem with what my kid is learning or not learning at school then I let the school board and/or principal know. I think it's great that they're learning two languages, science, math, sports, arts, and practical life skills.

I don't think he's played games where people are on headsets. It's so much more social than sitting in your basement alone on a console.

There just needs to be more on the practical life skills part of it. Learn how to do some things with your hands, how to live on a budget, how to handle a diverse range of social situations, etc.

Every kid should graduate from high school knowing how to do their own taxes. There's no excuse with the software out there.
