One more thing about the Johnny interview at The Athletic. The comments section was full of, and immediately, I'd say 50% I read of the 275 of them, was about Kyle Beach and how Johnny and the organIzation handled that train wreck.

I always wondered how fans would react as far as buying a ticket after that and now with a total tank gonna be easy for some folks to take their dollar elsewhere. How many? Rocky is gonna find out.

- Mr Ricochet

Are the other Chicago teams going to be any better? Are the other owners more likeable than the Wirtz's? Are fan's going to have much disposable income in order to afford tickets? The folks might take their dollar elsewhere, to more cheaper alternatives (or to watch on cable) than show up in person, but I think that is going to be true for most sporting events in the near future.

Do fans feel safe enough to go to the Stadiums?

TrueGrit:

Chicagoan for 24 years and then went to Cal and spent 10 years in SF. Don't waste your time discussing politics with leftists. They are anchored to their feelings and have no use for facts, truth, or logic. Keep in mind, most still believe Trump was a Russian spy.

- Harold Washington

LOL..... not even going to comment on the above. I do hope you realize the righties are starting to full on embrace Christian Nationalism..... and ya know tried to overthrow an election knowing the entire time what they were doing was illegal. If you actually read the Mueller report you would be quite concerned. I am an attorney and I read it.

Now its time to take a break from here as we have gone head first into politics.

I don’t understand how a 21 year old is responsible for handling the Beach situation, that was all on McD, Stan, Q, and Rocky. I understand that he was the captain at the time, but I’ll never question how Toews handled that saga, that was absolutely not on him. Now, if Toews was a 30 year old captain during the Beach incident, then maybe I could see some of the blame going there.

No other Chicago franchise that I'm aware of has had a sexual assault of this magnitude happen in their organIzation that I'm aware of.

I've always read 50% of women have been sexually assaulted or groped. That's a lot of people and the comments section at The Athletic shows that.

If nothing else perception has people guilty by association. Indeed, Johnny was a kid and the captain but that didn't preclude one of the vets from coming forth.

I'm one that says it happened, they cleared out those involved and claimed to have made processes, so it won't happen again. That seems fair and it's time to get past that horror show. But of course me and my family have never been touched by sexual assualt so I may be talking about things I have no background to.

Kakko is RFA. 21 y/o. What kind of offer sheet is he worth. Up to about $2 mil you only give up a 3rd. Up to about $4 mil you only give up a 2nd. Worth the risk?
I am thinking $2 to $3 mil on a short term deal might be worth giving up a 2nd.
Of course same could be said for Kirby Dach. lol.

- Ztra

Why would you want to offer sheet him? He's slow and looks about the same as Dach did, and he was becoming public enemy number one

Not directed at you...just stream of consciousness on the topic.

I know you are not implying this, but did I miss some sort of coronation? Toews is now entitled to what???

Toews rocking the Obama doctrine, railing against system, as if he was not a huge part of it.

If the guy wants to play it out this year and retire, no shame in that. That is his right. If he then wants to sign elsewhere, again, no shame in that. But if he is adopting the NBA mentality of running for the path of least resistance is discouraging.

Or he can man up and do some soul searching and figure out how to be a leader in tough times. Look at Crosby and Pens...how they stayed relevant for so long. They tore down and rebuilt 3 times.

Where is the grit and determination?

When exactly did the Penguins tear down and rebuild three times? Not since they won a cup they haven't. They made fringe moves but kept the big three. That's it.

Agree LA but they bought into the rebuild in their late 20's/earlier 30's. Tazer is 34 now and a 5-year rebuild would put him at 39, which probably means his career would be over. He's a true competitor and I'm sure he wants to get that playoffs rush again where games mean something.

Shows the failed moves of last summer were partly trying to keep Tazer happy.

I think Toews wants to go, but is saying he doesn't know so if KD, or Brisson can find a landing sport for him, he could say that KD said he had a trade proposal that he would like to accept, and this way Toews can claim he never really wanted to leave the Blackhawks.

Kinda weird to make statues for sports figures. Who make a big pile of money playing a game for a living 8 months out of the year...

Especially when one of the existing ones was a wife beater who said hitler had a few good ideas.

Is he? If he was honest he would just say I am not onboard with a 5 year timeline and would like to move to a contender (or I am onboard and hope to finish my career as a Blackhawk) instead of stringing it along.

You're extrapolating thoughts posted in a comment section of a news article onto an entire population (Hawks fans). This is similar to seeing the fervor of Tweets and assuming the non-Twitter world possesses a similar fervor. They don't. 95% of Hawk fans don't give a hoot any longer about the Beach affair. You do, I understand, and you want everybody to keep the anger at a fevered pitch; but the rest of the world is operating in the present.

Same thing happens on Twitter, and the vast majority of those people seem to be fans of other teams, especially our rivals, who take any opportunity to dump on the Blackhawks. (Hey! that's OUR prerogative, not yours!). Based on a number of the comments, they have no interest in or care about the facts of the situation. Just the typical pitchfork and torches crowd piling on.

Yes, I'm sure there are true Blackhawk fans who have rethought their fandom in the wake of the past few years. Can't blame them, but I would say they're more than likely not reading articles about the team.

And most Americans know the real insurrection was on election day.

- TrueGrit

Actually, most Americans know that given the opponent and the economy before and even after COVID19, the only candidate who could beat Trump in 2020 was Trump, and he was absolutely up to the task. Double check your suburban women voters and how their votes changed compared to 2016 before you fully finish your sniff.

With all due respect...

So they announce a rebuild a year earlier and then Bowman thinks better of it and tries to save his job?

He then bags the rebuild a year after they announce it and at least according to your post, it was all Bowman with no direction or input from upper management.
