When you think about it though, Hunt is the perfect 13th forward.
You don’t want your 13th forward to play a lot and you want him to be cheap. He’s basically as cheap as it gets in the league these days.
You don’t want a guy getting scratched every night who needs to play and develop.
Really what they should do is split up the games Reaves and Hunt play 12/13th forwards.
I love Reaves, but he played too much last year. - jimbro83
That's true -- IF Hunt remains the 13th forward and doesn't play with Panarin or almost anyone else. |

Hunt is making 762k, not a big cap hit. They like him as bottom six option. Unsure they go that route - airjan23
Yeah, Hunt's defineitely not a "top" |

Yep. If everyone is healthy and Hunt is getting regular time as Panarin’s RW, that’s definitely an issue |

I think if Motte suddenly signed a deal somewhere where he got 1 year 850k, something like that, everybody should be up in arms
But everyone expects close to 2 mil a year for him and the Rangers can’t swing it |

Just Dump Reaves for a bag of pucks, he serves no purpose, and gets paid too much.

Hunt is very serviceable as a 4th liner and 13th forward. Fans just were so used to him be awful in the top 6 |

I happen to love reaves, but wish he was paid league min and played 30 games. |

If motte isn’t in the same stratosphere as Jesper Fast, then why do we talk about him so much? 😝 |

I'm not saying they don't play a similar game. But, one played 9 games as a Blueshirt and one was my favourite player on the team for nearly 5 years. That's a major difference. |

Motte would definitely be a fan favorite similar to fast. It’s easy to see why |

I think Blais is gonna do all the things Fast and Motte can do
Ultimately people just gotta let Motte go |

The problem I have is I dont want to see Blais in the top 6, buts its looking inevitable if the plan is to keep the kids line together. |

I have no reason to believe Blais is capable of being as tenacious on D and forechecking as motte currently is. Even if blais can be solid defensively Motte is damn good at what he does |

We didn’t see Blais much before he got hurt, but that’s the kind of guy he was advertised as
If Blais was healthy I don’t even think we acquire Motte at the deadline |

I’d say thid is more about whether having reaves at the expense of motte makes sense than it is about Blais vs Motte |

Not sure. They talk about "paper transactions" all the time, but I don't know the specifics of the CBA on that. - dashripdot
All that "paper transactions" means is that, as far as the league is concerned, those two players would be "sent down" to Hartford. They wouldn't actually have to report and would remain with the NHL club. They'd effectively make their minor league salary for one day every offseason but never actually be playing in the minors. |

In spite of this, people will flip out all year long when they announce guys getting sent down all year, because literally 90% of people who comment are dumb |
