With Kadri joining the Islanders, there's a centre that becomes available maybe Nelson or Pageau, but they're not cheap. - drogon
Stand pat! They’ll be teams trying to get under the cap, bargain shopping. |

Hanifin for Mercer - K-man25
Not enough for a top pairing D on a kick as$ contract. |

Or they’ll just move Nelson back to LW. |

Mercer is cost effective for a while, but I’m ok with Devils adding a 2nd!

Monahan is a one-dimensional player, but if he's on the same line as a play-driver, play-maker like Pelletier, he could be successful. |

He has to get his foot speed up to be an NHLer. He was used on the power play because he did not have t skate. Even there, he was pretty bad. I really have no hope he can rebound at this point. I hope he can, it would be a great story for the team and even better for him.

Hopefully he'll be a little bit better. With Lucic, it's 14% of our salary cap, it makes it harder to become a contender, we could have 3 good players for that.

Only 3 remaining, Mangiapane, Kylington and Ruzicka.

Per club, #Flames have re-signed F Martin Pospisil to a one-year, two-way deal worth $750,000 at NHL level.
He was an RFA with no arb rights coming out of his entry-level deal. |

Kylington 2 x 2.5 mil - TurdFergeson
Decent deal! With Weegar in the mix he'll probably play with Zadorov, which kinda scares me. But decent deal & if Flames are doing a trade, makes him that much more appealing. Who knows.

I think it's pretty cheap for a guy that played well on the second pairing. But I don't think he will be in a Flames jersey in October.

Stutzle is listed at 6' 196 lbs, you wanna talk thin, take a look at stickman Pouty. - Reubenkincade
Be interesting to see how much you whine when Pettersson gets over 90 points. |

Now doubtful, Treliving has its hands tied with Monahan... Stastny will probably join the Avalanche and they'll win another cup with him.

As much of an anchor as Luc's contract is, the Flames have no one else that can keep other teams honest. So they will not/cannot trade him. Hopefully, he will want to stick around for a pay cut after this season. Not sure he will with the number of trade rumors circulating with his name attached.
Monahan has a negative value.
Trading a Dman will be the only way they can upgrade the top 6.

Zadorov re-signed fyi.. Ruzicka could make the link between being physical & playing more NHL games..
I can see Treliving using a player like Hanifin as the main piece for a #2C, and then throw Lucic into the deal "to make it work" lol plus a 3rd rounder, that would mean an overpriced center earning $8-10m though..

I didn't know that Lucic is on the trade market, just read about it. I think that's good news. We still have Zadorov. Could Pospisil be an enforcer? He's a skilled player when healthy.

Here's my lines:
Huberdeau Lindholm Mangiapane
Pelletier Backlund Toffoli
Coleman Monahan Dube
Lucic Ruzicka Lewis
1st line: Toffoli who's a 0.5pt/game player, potentially slowing down - doesn't seem like the greatest fit, Mangiapane's got more upside and he shouldn't be stuck with a defensive center like Backlund.
2nd line: If Pelletier can make the team and prove he could play, Backlund supports his development as he did with Tkachuk and covers defensive mistakes. Toffoli's the finisher.
3rd line: I separate Coleman from defensive Backlund and try to revive Monahan, Dube adds speed. I don't think Sutter will rule-out giving Monahan some games at #2C, just as Dube will likely get reps at #2C/#3C. If Monahan stays on LTIR, then #3C should be a lock for Dube more or less.
4th line: I'm a fan of Ruzicka's height & offense. Lucic's size and Lewis' "jam" compliment him well. If Monahan gets injured Ruzicka moves up to #3C and try to develop him into a #2C.. |
