My guess is they prepared for a situation that happened and the analytics guys said no bad idea. Adams said they depended on analytics a lot during the draft.

If you are the Sabres and had countless mock draft simulations (Adams mentioned that)….. trading up to get a player had to have been talked about in some way shape or form.

I get we need depth and Hino is a good player for the money. Bjork makes no sense unless it’s a two way deal. This lineup screams keeping Quinn in Rochester one more year. Not sure yet if I like that idea or not. I guess we will see

Room for one more forward with bjork included. Just need to have extra forwards that you don't care about benching. Realistically only room for one of the two unless they find someone other than hino to bench. For the first time in a long time, the Sabres actually have 12 useful forwards.

Sounds like if the Murray trade went through, a likely possibility could have been Kasper at 7 for the Sabres, Lekkerimaki at 8 (been mentioned that Y loved him), then Savoie at 9. Adding Kulich at 28 to complete the bonanza.

You want your 14th best F playing hockey somewhere, not sitting in the press box. Bjork/Hayden/whoever isn't worth worrying about.

On the flip side, if Murray is their 14th best F, that's a problem.

It's too convoluted to be able to say these are our best 14 forwards. It's more like.. these are the 12 best guys to play their respective positions and the other guys are non development part timers.

Ah, good point tying the goalies in there. Comrie could just be better and less injury prone than GMM. And lets not discount the entertainment potential of Leaf fans getting mad at Murray after spending a summer talking themselves into him.

Well, I think the point is to maybe ditch him because he negatively affects almost every facet of the game, and add a second depth forward who... Doesn't. In his limited minutes, Murray was a positive. He didn't provide much, but he didn't give up much either.

It doesn't need to be Murray, but there's a ton of guys out there who actually help, even if modestly.

Based on role I don’t think you can remotely compare the two.

Joker did terrible against top tier comp.

Bjork can’t handle being the 12th forward
