If the season goes awry, why does trading either or both mean they're giving up on them?
Lance even said he could see the Sabres signing Zemgus as a free agent even if they trade him at the deadline.
Are we holding on to players that will have value at the trade deadline for vibes again? - kingcong39
I'm not really inferring any of the opinions you're suggesting, so I'm a bit confused. Is this just a topic of discussion or a question of my opinion?

watson gets 6 games, as of now - homiedclown
They only looked at 5 out of his 20+ civil lawsuit cases against him. Before I left on vacation last week. The number was at 31
The nfl is a joke if Rodger doesn’t lay down the hammer for more games |

I like Kyle here, he serves a lot of purpose in different areas on and off the ice. Girgensons is fine, he's not as impactful overall but is better defensively. He's a quality leader here but I wouldn't be bent out of shape if he was traded. It wouldn't be a very hard task to replace him with a veteran in kind, if the Sabres were so inclined.
I'd be personally disappointed if Kyle was moved, as I have a personal connection to him, along with my support of him on the ice and for that room. ZG, not so much. He's fine, we could do better. |

What does the below mean?
Okposo will be extended. I feel certain about Kyle, knowing his roots in the community and the team, but I'm not too sure they'll give up ZG. |

I get the disappointment, but if they're a bottom 10 team leading up to the trade deadline and teams are calling on both Zemgus and Kyle, and both would like to play for a chance at a cup, don't the Sabres have to make that move?
They could still sign them as UFA's after the season, which I would guess would be likely. |

Regarding ZG, I think they like him too much to give an emphatic "yes" on trading him. I mean, I'd have traded him long ago, but that's just me. They're high on his leadership and role.

I think the chances of them trading Kyle are 25% of that of them trading ZG. If they both want to be traded, I think they will be. But I know Kyle doesn't want to be. And who's offering a piece we actually want for Kyle.

Who would offer let's say a late 1st or pair of 2nd round picks for Okposo at a $3M cap hit and $2M actual salary if he's playing at a 20-20 pace again?
More than one team would be my guess.
I'm guessing Zemgus would be appealing as well at a $1.1M cap hit. |

Okposo is likely to be captain. They're not trading their captain at the deadline |

I think they'd be willing to trade one, not both. Imagine getting a pair of firsts for them. And then signing Kyle to a 2x2. That would be a slick move.

He's the only Buffalo sports figure (to my knowledge) who lives here year round. He's obviously a huge family man and it's a safe bet he has no interest in leaving them to play elsewhere in the playoffs. Okposo will play here as long as he wants and then he'll retire. |

I am just waiting for that one person to come in here and say he deserves less games - homiedclown
It's dumb. That said he was "suspended" all of last year as a result of the investigation. I do wonder if there was a little "time served" element to the ruling. |

Tuch does as well. But you are correct. He's also building a home near his family in Minnesota.

I think Tage may be a UFA after the 23-24 season, not the 24-25 season, which would put him in Sam Reinhart territory contractually after this season.

I agree with you. Lance has a history of missing the boat on CBA items. |

I could see ZG getting a first. Especially if he's good at faceoffs.

From the same article:
"Do the Sabres put Kulich in Rochester now that Ruotsalainen is gone? There's a development opportunity there, but the clock would start on his entry-level contract"
Just not a guy to trust on this stuff.

Why trade girgensons?
We're making a playoff push ourselves.
Exactly who you want on your team come playoff time |

Trading zemgus 1%
Trading okposo .25%
Something like this? |
