The Yankees acquired Gold Glove-winning center fielder Harrison Bader from the St. Louis Cardinals for left-hander Jordan Montgomery ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline, a surprising deal aimed at improving defense. 😳

As a cardinal fan
I like this deal
Bader is easily replaced

Cards needed pitching.

I liked Monty, but they should have Cole, Montas, Nasty Nestor, Severino and Taillon, so Montgomery and German would've been the odd men out, most likely.

Agreed. It'll just take awhile for Bader. They're talking September.

His mechanics are the same on every pop up
Perfect
Seemed to banged up quite a bit has the speed to get to his spots
Bat needs work

Thanks for the info.

Yanks definitely have OF depth with Judge, Benintendi, Hicks, Stanton, Carpenter and now Bader.

Is it fair to say that asplund might have benefited from playing on scoring lines for good chunks of the season?
- joshs

It’s fair, we’d also can argue he scored well below expected as well.

The guy had terrible puck luck last year.

I agree with a little bit from everyone on here about asplund.

If he is just gonna drop down to the 4th line I don’t see a reason to keep both him and girgenson. Asplund being Swedish and younger makes him more valuable to keep.

The hope is that he ends up being less johan larsson’ish and more jochen hect like (middle six support role). It’s all gonna be about finding the right linemates and chemistry.

Next season is the make it or break it season for a lot of our roster. odds are it won’t end well for all those question marks on our roster but I am certainly rooting for rasmus

Really surprised Lawson Crouse hasn't signed in Arizona. I would see if 1 of those 2nds could get a deal done. Crouse Cozens Peterka could grow into a nice trio.

I thought he would get a term in the 5 year range, but he may be another example of the new wave of players who want to sign shorter term deals to cash in more often as the salary cap continues to rise.

Looks that way, be 29 after this deal, has a few more good years and he probably can cash in 1 more time.

you would think a you team that believes they are on the rise could use him, esp on the cheap

Sabres Top 20 under 25 is pretty loaded, hell under 23 is loaded. Adams and Co have some decisions to make fairly quickly on their core.

Tyler Bertuzzi is the only player to go to an arb hearing and remain with his team long(er) term since 2010. Every other player left within a year or two.

op and Craig Smith too.

Going to be a big year for Comrie, need to play upwards of 40+ games for us to be successful.

Hopefully UPL gets 20 or so as well. We'll need it

Time for Comrie to see if he's a starter or just a career backup.

I said it before but in reference to Matt's article.. Savoie, Ostlund and Kulich really, really fortified the middle of the organizational center chart, and really raised the tide on the prospect depth. Kudos to Kevyn and his staff from taking that organizational depth from zero to hero.

In saying that, we are (frank)ing thirsty for RHD.

Wonder how Tyson Kozak develops. Wonder if he becomes one of those misplaced 2021 picks inappropriately slotted in the draft.
