US News and World report ranked states and liveability, based on criteria like housing , education, economics, leisure, etc and of the top 20 states, only 3 were in the south.
I interviewed for jobs in North Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee and Florida over the last 6 years (believing the grass was greener) that all seemed like great opportunities, doing what I do here. Then they all stated the salaries that were 40- 45k, while I earn roughly 30k more than that here. yeah, taxes are higher here than down there, but housing is way cheaper, education is way better, the weather is way better here imo, and from the years I spent in the Army in Missouri and Virginia I can say the people here are nicer and more open-minded on the whole. I know folks in Florida whose water bill is 150 a month... I pay 50 bucks every 3 months. That's state sales tax difference right there.
I despise hot, sticky weather and have been to Tennesse in July...no f'ing thank you. Try to find a decent pizza in Missouri or Mississippi, I dare you. There's a reason "Florida Man" is a thing. Tornados, hurricanes, snakes, ants and spiders that are everywhere. And I love knowing I live 15 minutes from the biggest source of freshwater in the world. - LandlordTom
So you live in Russia?

Last thing people want to here this early but…..
The 2023 NHL Draft Class is going to be absolutely insane.
It’s on pace to be the best one since 2015 and the Hlinka is not disappointing one bit |

“Suspended” was in quotes
Reading comprehension was never your strong suit though
Bottom line:
Watson has already missed a whole year of playing football
AND his actions also cost him financially with the settlements that were reached

Just keep doubling and tripling down on being wrong. It’s a great look |

OK, second-biggest.
I also turned down a job offer in Albuquerque recently, and this week I see the Rio Grande in Albuquerque dried up. Powell and Meade may not even be able to produce electricity soon due to record low levels. The whole southwest is drier than a popcorn fart. |

Well unless we get a 1st in a trade or we absolutely fall on are faces. I would hope we are playing meaningful games in February so it won't matter. |

They aren't the only one's. Had a new drainage system put in my backyard in June, it's still a dust bowl out there. |

Hope not, if the US sends in another Carrier Battle Group for the Pacific Fleet then start getting worried. |

Same here in Albany and Saratoga NY.
It's the driest I ever remember it being.
Virtually no rain for going on more than 2 months now. |

Yeah, pretty dry all across the State. It sucks to cuz I can't let my Dogs out, they keep trying to dig up the pipes and ripping of the air vents. |

Yup. Buffalo is amazing during the summers.
I wish our winters were better. They are just so miserable and long |

Where you going? JetBlue did that to me - Sabretooth9
Had a flight home from Charleston, SC cancelled not even 2 weeks ago.
Supposed to fly down to Jacksonville to see family this weekend. Storms in Baltimore are being blamed.

It has down here for sure. I'm told that back 10 years ago or so, the heat let up in mid-Sept...it is full on now until mid-Oct.
Oh well, another month to use the pool! |

Overblown.
Hurricanes worry me the most for sure.
Snakes, spiders, alligators etc are out there no doubt. They largely leave you alone, just have to be a bit careful of the snakes as they like to hide ... so you can't go blindly along.
Alligators are more afraid you you... leave them alone, they leave you alone.
All said, could not be happier living down here ... it's friggin Paradise. |

Doesn’t get warm in Buffalo until late may now though. Used to be late April it started to warm up |
