You can't really do this. This is if Kadri gets signed, I'm assuming. We would need to see who gets shipped out before trying to figure out who gets moved. But, to play along I think Nelson moving to left wing would make the most sense since he's played there before.
So I'm thinking lines like this (not knowing who is getting traded).
Lee-Barzal-Palms
Nelly-Kadri-Wally
Beau-JGP-Bailey
Martin-Zeeker-Clutz

With Parise & maybe Bellows as your spares.

Thats about a 15 million dollar third line...

If the rumors are true about Kadri, the isles are going to be moving salary out, and i think you're going to see one of either Bailey, Nelson, or Beauvillier out in whatever deal is brewing

I get dealing Bailey and even Beau to a lesser extent may be tough but dealing Nelson would be mind numbingly stupid imo. Don’t sign Kadri if it means dealing Nelson. It’s at best a lateral move I don’t care what other attributes Kadri has over Nelson.

I dont think its a swap of Kadri for Nelson. If you can parlay Nelson somehow for Tarasenko, you've now just addressed your top line wing, and still have one of the best 2C's in the league, coming off a stanley cup win

I highly doubt either Barzal or Nelson gets moved so the question remains. I would try moving Pageau to wing and Nelson to center the third line in an attempt to expand our scoring depth. After Nelson’s season I can’t see moving him to the wing. I know some on here are thinking Barzal to the wing for defensive reasons but I’m not big on that idea. I don’t think lambert is going to do that either.

Pageau is essentially tied for the best FOW% on the team (with Cizikas). I'm not so sure I'd want to move him. I guess he could still take draws, but he's so defensively responsible that I think he stays put.

Where does Kadri play? Who gets bumped to wing? Barzal, Nelson, or Pageau?

I’m with Cpt on this. If the Isles do deal Nelson, it better be for something more than one guaranteed season of Tarasenko.

Obviously the Tarasenko thing only works with an extension......im not looking for another Vanek exit

I would not move Pageau. Lou has to find a way to move Bailey.

I meant moving him out of the center position, but yea I'd prefer not to trade him either

Gotcha. I'm fine with giving Bellows a run on the 3rd line.

Question then becomes, is a signed and extended Tarasenko and Kadri gonna be better (and cheaper) than Nelson and whichever winger also gets moved?

I could see there being an argument for better, but cheaper seems highly unlikely.

If they get Kadri who is Bellows playing over? He is the odd man out with either Johnston or Martin

I don’t see them trading Nelson. I would hate to lose him

Trading Nelson would be stupid. He was their best player all season last year. The gain in talent would be marginal, at best, and I don't see the point in doing that

I can’t see it either.

Bellows, and either Beauvillier or Bailey seem the most likely, but they are also of the least worth (arguably).

My opinion is trading Nelson and a pick for Tarasenko, and signing Kadri makes the isles a better team on paper. Kadri is one year older than Nelson so the age factor is similar. I think the isles have too much money spent on the middle of their lineup, and that should be shifted to address the top line wing, and PP. Just my 2 cents

In a perfect world, Bailey is moved, but if you're a GM, you always shoot for the stars, and I dont think Bailey gets you to that elite winger that the isles have needed for too long.

I think Beauvillier could interest some teams, as he's young and has upside.

Well yeah. That's why I put in my post (a couple times) not knowing who may be traded.

I guess my point was that you had listed a third line sans Parise, and as it was listed was 15 million in salary. I think Parise is on that third line game 1

Have him take draws like you said. I’m not losing sleep over this really I just can’t see moving Nelson to the wing…

It'll be interesting when we find out what the final moves are, that's for sure
