Rid Bailey's 5 Mill would be a blessing, ie Ladd. I would move Beau as well, it's time and he can get some return.
- HolyDiver83

I'm very hesitant to move Beau. He's not perfect, but moving out another young player that could go on to vastly improve with another team could prove disastrous. May be an upgrade in the very short term but it just continues to make this team older and older.

Older and slower. Would rather not move Beau. Is Bailey that tough to move? Arizona would not take him?

Have to think Lou is trying to still make his "hockey trade" and not just dump cap.
IF, key word, they are in on Kadri, would have to think they're looking to move out 2 roster forwards for possibly another LHD? Fans don't seem to mind Salo or Aho jumping in as the 6th D man but is Lou thinking that? Giving a brand new coach with veteran forwards, some small-ish, young, inexperienced D guys.

Have to think because he has never addressed the media, he is still working something. Maybe he's waiting for Greene or Chara...lol. who the frank knows

Arizona really has no need for him, so if they're going to pay him $3.5M this year and next they're probably going to want assets to come along with him, like Ladd. They still have to get Crouse/Hayton under contract and that will put them over the cap floor, so there's really no urgency on their part.

My guess is that if someone wanted Josh Bailey, it'd have been done by now and we may have signed Gaudreau

This is probably very true. Is there a team that would still need to fill their top 9? An Anaheim or SJ maybe

Not really sure.

SJ is going to probably want to keep some cap space to sign Meier next year and $5M of Josh Bailey doesn't make that any easier.

ANA has to sign Terry and Zegras next year, as well as fill out some other spots (and they may want Klingberg back if things work well) so even though they have a ton of space they're probably going to want to keep it free for a few big contracts next year. If Terry and Zegras have big years they're going to get paid.

It's crazy to think the Rangers were able to trade Gomez and they got back McDonaugh. It's 8/3 and we are still waiting for moves. I was a fan of the Cap but it's getting really tough to make moves now. These 7 year deals are killing movement.

Well according to some Bailey can be traded with a snap of the fingers. Poof.

Been saying for a while it very well may be Beau because he probably has some perceived value to other teams.

This is where Lou's theory of "when you have time you use it" bites him. So many teams jumped on opportunities and filled when the chance presented itself.
Snow did it but it paid off because he fell into Boychuk and Leddy because those teams needed to shed cap and the Isles had cap to spare.
So many teams are over the cap and will need to shed money. Will be interesting to see how everyone gets under this year.

I don’t really get the impression he tried doing this but he should’ve been proactively trying to unload this salary for the last two seasons. You have to be able to evaluate what you have and cut ties with what you no longer need ahead of the curve. That’s the salary cap world in a nut shell. Maybe he did, who knows with this guy? Him keeping things quiet, as usual, is borderline hysterical though there’s nobody alive that doesn’t know he’s trying to unload salary.

Frank Seravalli via DFO Rundown says that if any contract is going to be moved for the Islanders to fit Nazem Kadri, it's Anthony Beauvillier

My guess is he didn't unload Bailey and his salary because Barry loved him. Trotz never had anything but glowing things to say about him and clearly thought he was perfect for all occasions, including all 6th skater scenarios.

Unfortunate. It's not that I'm opposed to moving Beau but you would hope he would be a key piece to bring in a major upgrade as opposed to just clearing space.

I mean it is just Seravalli's speculation, but there's certainly logic behind it

I dream of a scenario where both Bailey and Beauvillier and a pick get traded to Seattle for Eberle and Soucy.

Lee-Barzal-Eberle
Nelson-Kadri-Wahlstrom
Parise-Pageau-Palmieri

Pelech-Dobson
Romanov-Pulock
Soucy-Mayfield

Eberle is missed, but only really because he was never adequately replaced or upgraded. Like Beau, the guy could go long stretches where he was completely invisible. I'd take him back knowing that said upgrade seems unlikely at this point but it would be better if we could fund a real primo player for that slot

Halfway through last season at the very latest it was obvious we were out of it. I’m sure at that point he knew he was canning trotz as well.

It was like we were a Stanley Cup contender and everything was A ok. Now we’re trying to dump salary under the veil of silence

My guess is anybody willing to take Bailey wants either a 1st or a pretty good prospect attached which the isles can't do. Lou won't budge on moving Varly which I see both sides to the argument and for the record I would have moved him and taken my chances that Sororkin will stay healthy. That leaves Beau which like Chiefs said makes us older and slower if they move him. I'm curious to how this plays out and I wouldn't rule out them wanting more of a veteran as the 6th instead of Salo or Aho
