I'm still struggling with viewing Kadri as this epic game breaker. He has only surpassed 30 goals twice in his career and just looking at his career stats, he is hovering in/around 50 points a season. He is on the down side of his career and everyone's stats were padded on that powerhouse Avs team last season. I'm ok if Uncle Lou gives him too much term and too much money. Helps weaken a prime competitor in the years to come. Just my take. |

Well, Eklund calls it for the Islanders which means we now know where he won't end up. Look for the Avs or any of the other 30 teams to sign him. |

Does anybody really think that? I would think most view him for what he is. A very good hockey player who does pretty much everything who still has 3-4 good years in him. He'll get overpaid for sure but how does that make him any different than just about every FA that hits the open market. That's the price you pay when you choose this avenue to better your roster. That's the game and everybody knows the consequences of it lol. I'm sure the Devils didn't want to give a 31 yr old Palat 6 million a year for 5 years but they had to choose that avenue as well to better the roster. So, I guess in the end the term and dollars will be more then he should get but we'll worry about the consequences of it down the road

...The next time they hand out a big contact will probably be the final nail.
Agreed. Can we fast forward through this period ? Do we have to wait for more unproductive veteran moves to learn this thing needs to reboot ?

Kadri to isles? What? Their fan base believe a free agent who leaves his previous club is a snake. Will that make Kadri a snake too? Asking for a friend |

IMO there is no way that the Metro has more talent (or competition) than the Atlantic.
Boston (Bergeron, Pasta, Marchand)
Buffalo (Powers, Dahlin)
Detroit (Raymond, Seider)
Florida (Tkachuk, Barkov, Ekblad)
Montreal (Suzuki, Caufield, Slaf)
Ottawa (Tkachuk, Cat, Chabot, Giroux)
Tampa (Kuch, Stamkos, Vasi, Hedman)
Toronto (Matthews, Marner, Tavares, Nylander)
this group has got recent a perennial Selke, 2 of the last 3 Rocket Richard, reigning Calder, and 3 former Vezina winners.
2-time Stanley Cup winner, President Cup winners. 4 of the top 6 teams in the Conference came from the Atlantic. |

Dumb and dumber:
Kadri should avoid the over the hill team and focus.
Lou should make Matt B a priority to an extension- he will be leaving in the first plane come free agency as this team continues to exile their youth for over age Veterans |

Aren’t the Isles pretty set at centre already or would Barzal/Nelson move to the wing? |

He won a SC. Let him enjoy his money and join Lou's collection of overpaid old timers. |

There's a reason why you dont see exits like that happen too often. Case in point with Calgary this summer. The players informed their team they werent staying. No fan cared that Tavares left.....it was asking not to be traded, and then publicly stating how special it is to retire with the team that drafts you. I love how leaf fans act like this was a normal transition. I'd argue its not very captain esq... |

But did Kadri spend the season telling them he wanted to stay, not to trade him, and then wait until the pre-UFA window had expired to tell the Avs he was dipping without them getting anything in return? |

Did you just lump Raymond, Suzuki, Caufield and Slafkovksy in the same boat as Nikita Kucherov? Lets pump the breaks a little bit here bud.
