yeah, well wanting out of those 2 teams isn't necessarily the issue, it's the way he's dealt with those situations that is a bit of a red flag. perhaps his agent is part of the problem, saying that he asked to be traded from WPG, which PLD then denied ever happening. - Pat1993
he didn't ask for a trade from WPG officially, he just won't sign a long term deal with them, meaning they have to trade him by the TDL of season 2023-24 or else he is a UFA. He signed for one year, will be RFA again next summer for the last time. |

we don't know any of the details...
If he is UFA in 2024 and wants to come to MTL at a fair price/term, why not? |

but Brisson saying that he'd like to play for the habs is what led to all these rumors. maybe they're both in on it, not the best strategy imho but it is what it is....
edit: I looked it up and I think Brisson was asked if PLD would want to play for the habs, to which he replied he'd probably see himself in that market... it was taken out of context maybe, but he could've also been clearer with his comments to prevent that from happening lol |

Maybe he wants to come to MTL but he doesn't control his destiny at this stage of his career, WPG owns his rights until 2024. If they don't want to trade him, he has to shut up and play. I think they tried to push for a trade, didn't happen so now they are in damage control until he is UFA. |

well if he puts up enough points on the board this season, there are a few teams that will be interested for sure... anyway I wouldn't mind seeing him in a habs jersey, but not at any cost. WPG will be asking for more than Kirby Dach lol

True. Drouin never officially gave up on his team, just wanted more ice time. |

big season for Drouin this year, he will be a UFA next summer, he needs to put up numbers and stay healthy or else he will have a hard time finding a decent contract next summer |

if he does put up points it could be a nice TDL move for the habs, if there's a team with enough cap space looking to add some offense for the playoffs...

Habs can eat 50% of his salary at the TDL, any team almost could trade for him at that point. |

the jets would then become unstoppable... no one could stop them from going on the best golf courses once the season is done. |

Now imagine is Bergy didn't let Danault walk away for nothing - Symba007
I think MB could have offered $8M and Danault would have walked.
He just was not happy with the organization and management.

maybe, but judging from his comments I think how the negotiations went with Bergevin is the main reason why he left.

Yeah, I get if you are not happy, you might want to try somewhere else.
That is fine.
But the way he went about does not sit well with me, and if he found 2 places he is not happy with, then who knows what will make him happy in a 3d (or 4th, or 5th....).
Anyways, his agents are just using MTL to pump up his next contract.
So let's just move on....

I think that was the final straw... he clearly was not happy before that.
