Are there former NHL DOPS people working in the NFL making these calls? Vice Versa?
Wild. - Cush29
It wasn’t an NFL decision. It went to a mediator who decided on 6 games. The league apparently asked for the season. For some reason the mediator only reviewed and considered information on 6 allegations. The PA was successful in watering down the Commish’s authority over the last year. |

Yep. Canada has a really deep team. Bedard isn't even there. |

Can we just officially end the Browns as a franchise? |

Maybe they did.
Maybe they had something else in works.

Was reported by someone on the twitter that the Jays were out a week or so ago, at least.
Unfortunate. |

Juan Soto has been informed he's being traded to San Diego, a source tells ESPN.

So, does that mean that Hosmer agreed to be traded, or...? - GreatGigInTheSky
It’s highly unlikely that the Padres finalized a deal this big without checking with the guy with the NTC. Presumably some reporter noticed the clause and reported that he needs to agree even though he probably already did.
If they (frank)ed this up, fire them all. |

Apparently the mediator relied heavily on past precedent.
And since the NFL has always turned a blind eye to domestic violence, sexual assault, etc., six games was what she felt was "right."

I mean, the Browns had a deadline trade fall through because in celebrating for some second rate QB they forgot to fax the deal into the league and the deadline rolled by. |

Let’s see if the League appeals. One of her recommendations/rulings/stipulations is that Watson can only use “team supplied” masseuses.

Sources: #Padres and Eric Hosmer’s representatives currently negotiating about what it would take for Hosmer to approve his trade to the #Nats. The Juan Soto/Josh Bell blockbuster — in its current form — is contingent on Hosmer’s assent.

There's a good article in the Athletic that believes the NFL won't appeal.
"I don’t believe Goodell will overturn Robinson’s ruling for a couple of reasons. First and foremost, this was the system he wanted. Goodell wanted to get away from being the judge and jury after controversies surrounding the suspensions of Ray Rice, Ben Roethlisberger, Ezekiel Elliott and Tom Brady, among others.
Each case, just like this one, involved complicating factors. Goodell was likely tired of the scrutiny he faced over all of it. Now he has a retired federal judge to handle such matters. In a league obsessed with optics, why would he overturn her first decision under this new system? It would undermine both her credibility and his and deem the whole thing rigged." |

One scenario under discussion between #Padres and Eric Hosmer's reps:
Hosmer may request that he end up with a team other than the #Nats as part of a 3-team deal. The situation remains fluid. |

The #Nationals #Padres deal DOES NOT hinge on Hosmer being a part of it. The deal is done regardless...acccording to sources directly involved.

I didn’t realize that the “appeal” would just be the league imposing its own punishment. That makes sense |

Lame.
If Hosmer didn't need to be in the trade, then why was he? Could've just traded him to a team that wasn't on his no trade list.
It's like they're just being Richards to the guy for no reason. |
