Anyone who says the Leafs need to bolster the D at this point is just grasping at the decade long conversation that leafs needed D and can not adapt to the present.

Leafs D have been great the last few seasons. They could use a Norris trophy D, they do not have one.

But the the D core has performed well consistently the last few years.

The Toronto Blue Jays are finalizing a deal with the Miami Marlins, sources tell ESPN. Shortstop Jordan Groshans is going to Miami. Zach Pop and others are going to Toronto.

Pablo Lopez is not in the deal.

Hope there's another guy coming, if Groshans is going the other way.

The main player going back to Toronto, per source: right-handed reliever Anthony Bass, who's been dominant this season.

The Blue Jays have been looking for help, and in Bass, they're getting a late-inning complement to Yimi Garcia, Adam Cimber and closer Jordan Romano.

Eric Hosmer rejected the trade to Washington and will not be part of the Soto deal, per source. Now the Padres have less than five hours to figure out what to do with Hosmer, who is owed $39 million from 2023-25.

I've always really liked Groshans (even with him being not good this season), but getting a really good pitcher and a guy with a great pitch that just needs to learn under Pete Walker is good.

Bass is probably better than Pop with some more strikeout stuff. Jays have lots of options at SS
