What is complicating the Soto deal is that Washington (and their cheapo owner) are forcing teams to pick up the contract of Patrick Corbin, who has two years left on a $140M 6 year deal. He's considered by many to be the worst starting pitcher in baseball. 6.49 ERA and -1.9 WAR this season. That diminishes the value that Washington gets back. Yankees couldn't care less about money, but San Diego surely does. Yankees also would have no problem re-signing Soto. Can't see any reason why they wouldn't be in on this. Soto batting 3rd and Judge batting cleanup would be scary good.

Josh Bell is likely more like the speed of the Jays. Biggest issue there is he's a 1B/DH, but he's a rental so the price will be much less and he's a switch hitter so he checks the box for a very good left handed batter.

You know I'm also okay if they just get SOMETHING done. Everyone around them is making some sort of moves. Top guys, depth guys. It feels very much like the Jays management is saying "If EVERYTHING goes the way we want it to go, we don't really need to do anything."

I hope they make a good move like Berrios but I mean they missed playoffs by one game. At this point in the season, they are still in a dog fight to win.

Absolutely 100%. Especially when the players that are on the team have said they're just as pumped to see the moves and improvements that they'll have going forward.

Jays the only team in the division to not make a trade yet.

Good news is that this season we only had to push through half a season with Montoyo as manager, instead of a full season. That alone gives the Jays a better chance.
