Saw Canada World Junior roster posted - no Canucks rights of course.

It feels like this happens year after year. Nothing on the Canada rosters. Sweden (of course) sometimes USA, but rarely Canada. It's a wonder we're in a deep pit ever since and including last years of Sedins.

Also, it's not like it's only bottom feeders with these high-end prospects. Rangers have multiple ... Minny has 3 Defenseman!

I just went and had a look back at the last decade of Canadian junior defence. A bit surprising but only 3 out of the 7 usually have good NHL careers.

Even from the 16-17 team. All 7 D still have NHL contracts but Chabot and Fabbro are really the only 2 that have carved out a good looking career so far. Clague, Bean, Juulsen, Lauzon, Myers are all starting to struggle to maintain a spot in an NHL line up.

Unfortunately, Van couldn't draft Chabot but they could have taken Juulsen instead of Boeser so Van could have more Canadian D.

in 2016 a trade down would have been wise instead of picking OJ and not trading for Gudbranson. Hindsight and probably the end of Benning right there.

The girl spoke out through her lawyer. Says HC made a lot of incorrect statements during their testimony. She passed a polygraph with flying colors and the results have been sent to the nhl, HC and the police.

Well I tried to make a bet with big mouth Lardy to back up his statements and he said no. Go figure.

Yeah was just pointing out Minny's D prospects as it surprised me they had so many. But forwards as well. Obviously Boeser was a pretty good pick where he was.

I don't know I guess it's just frustrating this team has been bad for so long, yet still doesn't have a half decent prospect pool and doesn't seem to to be doing anything (yet) to improve it.

This new regime seems resigned to being competitive already, further confirming (to me at least) that the marching orders are still coming from owner. Not dealing high on Miller for some prospects, comments around if everything goes right, the D can be ok ... it all sounds like destined for the same middle meddling.

Another thing around prospects is a guy like hoglander who has taken a lot of heat after 2 years. Having few and far between quality prospects recently (maybe a few higher-end but then drops off a cliff) seems to work against a guy like him. Someone over achieves early and then we expect them to be the next coming of pavel datsyuk or something. When that trajectory levels off, we cast them off as a bust because 'they can't be a 4th liner'. I don't see anything wrong with a guy like hogs on the 3rd or 4th line learning other aspects of the game. Especially in his case, he was pretty dogged on the puck that first year. I know his defense and #'s aren't good, but I think confidence plays into that. Changing a guy's role who I'm sure was relied on for creative offense en route to NHL and then casting him off because he doesn't pick up the other nuances right away ... seems shortsighted. It's not like he's costing us important games, there's a mountain of shortcomings for this team beyond him.

I mean we just had your prototypical 4th line (motter, lamo, highmore) and completely dismantled it, so it can't be worth that much in the team's eyes to have the most prototypical 4th line.

New regime mentioned they had a lot of unravelling to do and I would guess they found out the team wasn't as bad as their record was at that time.

Miller hasn't been signed or traded so his value to other teams remains unknown to us. If what NYR offered was the best, I would say a lot of other teams don't see very much value in Miller at all because that offer was not very good. I've seen lesser players get more value.

2 years ago Hoglander had a top 6 spot because the team wasn't very good. Last season with Garland, he lost his spot and the bottom 6 was probably the worst in the league, which wasn't going to help him out. Motte and Lammikko aren't even signed yet.

Hoglander spot didn't get any easier with Mikheyev and Kuzmenko additions.

The Blue Jays are “closing in on” a deal for Marlins reliever Zach Pop, reports Shi Davidi of Sportsnet. Other pieces are expected to be involved as well, with Blue Jays prospect Jordan Groshans believed to be headed to the Marlins. Craig Mish of Sportsgrid says that Anthony Bass is also heading to the Jays. Jon Heyman of the New York Post says that the Jays will also get a smaller piece, which Davidi relays is a player to be named later.

Further to this, #Canucks G coach Ian Clark arranged for Aku Koskenvuo to skate with Torenius in Finland before Canucks development camp last month.

This is clearly a person Clark feels can continue the strong communication he and Sanford had with every G in the organization.
