Wow you said it. A Hart injury would be devastating. No Jones to bail us out. Could get ugly. And what if Sandstrom gets injured ? Whoo boy. Then what ? - BluehorseShoe64
Basically the rug would get pulled out from under the season. Free fall. And there's nothing Torts could do about it.
CF put the team up on a high wire w/ no safety net at all. |

Bill Meltzer: Quick Hits: Tippett, Flyers Daily, Kessel, Lycksell, TIFH - bmeltzer
If the plan is to keep Frost and Tippett together, my hope is something much better then Noah Cates is on their left wing. Cates could be legit and I hope he is but we’re talking about a contract year for Morgan Frost and a break out season for both him and Tippett. I personally want to be in the mix with the most skilled guys on the team. Top six players and a lot of power play time. |

I think Cates is perfect for that line. He is the glue guy who will do all the dirty work. Forechecking, responsible play, energy, plus he can chip in offensively.

I know most have high hopes for Cates, I’m just not there yet. I need to see more. In my opinion his best game was against Pittsburgh at the end of the season but Pittsburgh didn’t show up that game. They didn’t even care. They were in the playoffs already playing against a non-factor in us. |

Cates showed more is his brief showing than both of those 2 suspects at this point.
Who are they playing over? Frost clearly behind Hayes and Couturier. Who is Tippet going to surpass? |

the three played well. no harm in seeing if that continues, but who knows what other preseason injuries there are. Hoping kids can play and are healthy with hayes our 1c to start the season.

Haks teams probably overachieved looking at the roster but if we won a series or two in the playoffs he probably wouldn't look so bad. Though his player usage was in question at times overall he had some winning teams The best roster he had was with Schenn, Jake, a young Provorov who still looked super confident, and Ghost, Giroux and Jake all having career seasons. A couple playoff rounds and not a first round exit that year and he's Philly time wouldn't look so disappointing. |

I’m assuming you’re not new to watching hockey and I assume you’re not new to watching this team. It’s along 82 game schedule. I’m sure Hayes will start as our second line center but Kevin Hayes has never been this offensive Juggernaut. Hayes has also seen success playing with third line talent such as Lindblom or Laughton, so it wouldn’t be this impossible possibility if Hayes does get pushed back if Frost can work hard and play to his potential. We’ve seen Frost get pushed up and playing with Giroux and Konency on a line. Unless your name is Sean Couturier, I don’t think anyone is playing behind anyone. |

I think it’s the same as everyone else’s. Top 6 playmaking center. |

So who is everyone else that thinks this? He hasn’t shown anything to suggest that.
So then he needs to have a 40 plus point season to reach his potential? Is that a fair statement? |

If Ellis gets shut down for the season at some point, would that mean we could take on someone's final year 6 million cap hit and maybe a first rounder for the trouble? |

Haven’t you heard, Ellis ramped it up last month. |

It’s very difficult for any coach to significantly improve a team when the GM continually makes one bad move after another. No coach is gonna magically get Hayes to make smart use of linemates or fix Ristolainen’s glaringly bad hockey sense. Nor is he gonna remove over a decade of heavy use wear and tear from Couts, take away JVR’s maddening streakiness or make TDA a quality in zone defender.
There are just way to many holes in this roster and way too many players coming off significant injuries for this team to compete for a playoff spot, let alone a Cup. And, worse yet, no one looking at this team with slightest bit of objectivity should have the slightest faith in Chuck Fletcher fixing this team’s problems, the lion’s share being of his own doing.
They’ll be better than last year because barring more catastrophic injuries, it would be hard to be worse. But they’ll still be a bad team and in all honesty, I’m tired of it. |

Is this a serious post? He’s still a young developing player. He has yet to play a full season in the NHL. A 40 point season would only be a start but fair but any player who was drafted in the first round and formally had 100 plus points in junior is expected to have a high expectation in the big league. |
