The best thing that can happen to this Flyers team is people just absolutely stop going to WFC. They're completely secure in their monopolistic local TV market here in 215land and bordering south NJ, but an empty arena day in and day out is enough to get those shareholders to notice. |

Vigeneault had his team in that position for a couple of months. Then struggled to beat Montreal in the playoffs.
Hakstol got more with less that Vigneault did overall. - MJL
That playoffs wasn’t real, 4 months later in the bubble. AV had the Flyers playing the best hockey they’ve played in a decade. The next season and that playoff was an absolute mess and then Fletcher Fletched |

Too short of a sample size to mean much. Much better to look at full seasons.

Thats's kind of AV's MO though. The Flyers indeed were very HOT before the pandemic/stoppage hit but AV has never been sustainable as a HC. |

That's not accurate. Vigeneault is a Jack Adams award winner. Has taken two teams to the Cup finals. Won back to back Presidents trophies with Vancouver. In 20+ coaching seasons, his teams have missed the playoffs about 5 times. He was just terrible here for some reason. |

AV had the team 1 win from the conference finals.
Same results, but sounds a lot different from the picture you painted.

Or it could have been the fact that he recognized that the Flyers had nowhere near the level of talent needed to compete for a Stanley Cup and he simply lost interest. I dunno...

Are you a musician?
Stones or Triumph. Let me weigh that. The scale says delete your post now.

The Flyers suck....yada yada yada. To compare the Stones and Triumph would be ridiculous simply because of the Stones longevity. I should have actually said that Rick Emmett is a better musician than anyone that the Stones can put on stage or ever have put on stage. He is certainly one of the most(if not the most) underrated guitarists of all time. It blows me away that many of the top 100 lists don't have him on there. Thanks! Oh, and please FIRE CHUCK! |

Rush, Jr. something about those trios from the great white north.
Love this song, most people never even heard it

If Ellis gets shut down for the season at some point, would that mean we could take on someone's final year 6 million cap hit and maybe a first rounder for the trouble? - therabbi

I don’t not expect him to get 40 at all. Doesn’t mean it wasn’t a good season.
What I want to see is him play 70+ games. Show he is a an everyday NHL player. Be consistent. Then go from there.
Same with Tippet. I don’t expect 40 at all. - furio16
Wait, what are you trying to goat me into exactly? You suggested 40 points. To me that would be a good start. Why would you suggest 40 points if you don’t believe in that number? In fact, why are my expectations important to you at all? |

Largely depends on usage, especially level of PP time. Frost got the 11th-most (by average time per game) PP time among Flyers forwards last year. After Cates and Tippett, his second most common line combo was with Mayhew and Willman.
Yeo said at one point almost verbatim, "Points are not my main objective with Frosty right now. I want him to work right now on moving his feet more, not getting stationary. Being first on pucks and heavier. If he does those things, the points will come, too."
That's exactly what Frost did over the rest of the season. And the points DID start coming over the final 12 games.
The key now is for Frost not to revert but to pick up where he left off (he seems aware that the adjustments were crucial and they were starting to work). Also key for Torts to put him in position to succeed. Playing more with Tippett and Cates could be such an opportunity. That line had a similar chemistry to what he had in the Soo with Raddysh (Tippett) and Katchouk (Cates). Similar distribution of roles and abilities. - bmeltzer
All the excuses are now over for Frost; whether they were valid or not. He needs to show he is part of the solution. Along with Tippet as well. Maybe it is me though I do not see many teams worrying about defending that line, we shall see.
Like I said yesterday it is time to start producing in real points. No more underlying metrics look good stuff.

Is this a serious post? He’s still a young developing player. He has yet to play a full season in the NHL. A 40 point season would only be a start but fair but any player who was drafted in the first round and formally had 100 plus points in junior is expected to have a high expectation in the big league. - SuperSchennBros
40 point season a dream for me, unfortunately I also have a nightmare seeing him just break 20 points.

No I wouldn't. When there is no pressure or less pressure to win it becomes it becomes a less stressful environment. Players are more relaxed.
What about the players who already have long term contracts secured? I am sure Scott Laughton and the like where under immense pressure.
