Aside from hoping to see improvement with the younger guys, that’s about all you can do. - Hesh_
I agree with you guys! I never want to see them tank and won't root for them to lose. I realize we need to get a top pick next year but still want to watch competitive and entertaining hockey. It's a tough time being a Flyers fan.

They could operate on less then 23 man roster if needed be. With everybody healthy they could still be
Cap compliant. They can function cap wise with Ellis back in. I think they are operating like he will be back at some point. - peesinwind
Let's put it this way. If they think that Ellis is going to play, then the way they're operating is just plain stupid. They've boxed themselves in without room for multiple injuries.

Yes, if Ellis actually ever plays another game for the Flyers, I might quit drinking. Chuckles needs to go but we all know they will promote him like they did with Homer.

Oh yeah - I forgot - Hexy sux! His boy Hak kept rolling out Vandevelde, Lehtera, Manning etc, despite the notion that Hak was great for the kids. I know the rule as per the boss on here is not to diss Hexy but oh well. For the record, I love Hexy as a player and do agree that he is better than Chuckles, but it's ok to disagree with some of his decisions. If Hak didn't coach Hexy's son, he never would have had a job with the Flyers. |

If we’re gonna suck, I’m just gonna look forward to all the Torts press conferences and all of the Nic deslauriers and Zac MacEwen fights. Call me whatever you want but if this is all we’re getting, might as well look forward to it. If we’re gonna suck, might as well be entertaining. - SuperSchennBros
That's exactly what Dave Scott and the accounting dept are banking on. |

The real hockey heads such as myself stopped going to games a decade ago cause we can spot a non competitive team quickly. There was a waiting list for Flyers season tickets for MANY years, but all that is gone. I'm guessing there will be nights this season when it looks like Sixers games from back a few years ago when they sucked. As in empty! It's very hard to achieve that dubious honor cause the Flyers have always been a staple of Philly, but Chuckles along with some help from Hexy has managed to do it. Congrats to them. FIRE CHUCK! Thanks! |

Dunno if you’re familiar with Wishbone Ash, but you may enjoy them, as well. And Beck, Bogert, and Appice. Possibly Cactus.
Carmine Appice is a pretty under appreciated drummer, which is a cryin shame. - Hesh_

I would not give this organization the salt off a pretzel let alone any money.
Really would love to see the numbers as far as season ticket and what the cancelation rate was after this past season. Those sales reps should go to jail for fraud when trying to sell!!! Feel for them just a little.

Barring any further moves, it's a guarantee that they will be dipping into LTIR. The question is what happens if at any point during the season that Ellis is ready to play? The Flyers aren't saying anything but they're operating as if they know Ellis is done. - MJL
Agreed, I thought this at the time of the DeAngelo deal, it just doesn't make any sense unless Ellis is in fact done. |

Watching those 2 stiffs fight will not be entertaining. It will be like watching Claude Boivin and Dale Kushner fight.

$1M for Zac 'Freak'n' MacEwen
What people forget is the broad street bullies did a lot of bullying, but they also could score! If the Flyers were hell-bent on winning the Deslauriers sweepstakes, why qualify MacEwen at all? This makes no sense to me. $2.75M of cap space this coming season on primarily fighters, I just don't get it. |

What don't you get? This organization is poorly run. They still think that way of playing is relevant in 2022.
Its one thing to want that style, then at least get players who can fit it and at least play a little.
Just shows Chuck pays zero attention to his world class analytics dept.

The Flyers took a very patient approach under Hextall with young players. Young players actually progressed under Hextall compared to now but he sux.

It wasn't that long ago when you arguing with me that it was false that Fletcher was going to cap the team out. Even when it was just a case of simple math.

The athletic did a piece on which teams had the worst contracts as a whole. Called it contract efficiency.
You will be surprised to learn that the Flyers finished much higher than most of us would think.
28. Philadelphia Flyers
Last season: 17th
When Chuck Fletcher said he was out on Johnny Gaudreau because it was “too hard” to move money around, it was met with eye rolls. Buddy, that’s your job.
And then you look at the cap sheet, and, well… too hard might’ve been an understatement. Of course, the quote had very “we’re all trying to find the guy who did this” energy, and that’s why it’s no surprise to see the Flyers land here near the bottom. A self-inflicted wound.
Did they need to sign Nicolas Deslauriers to a four-year deal? No. Did they need to sign Rasmus Ristolainen to a five-year deal? No. Boom, there’s a nice $6.9 million right there. And the team is better for it. That’s the problem here. Neither of those two moves the needle and in fact might actively be hurting the team. And yet, they take up almost 10 percent of the cap. For a long time.
Past failed free agents are also here taking up precious cap space with James van Riemsdyk being overpaid by $3 million and Kevin Hayes being overpaid by almost $5 million. At least van Riemsdyk’s deal ends this year…
It’s a whole lot of money for a whole lot of nothing. Even the team’s best deal, Tony DeAngelo’s, is because the model likes his offense a lot more than it should. It’s going to be a very different world for him in Philadelphia compared to Carolina.

It’s all about shot blocking. These guys are all-world shot blockers. When they’re not punching guys in the face they’ll be sliding on their stomachs blocking shots. What’s more exciting to watch than some inconsequential goons punching each other in the face and shot blocking?

Hayes isn't overpaid by 5 million as that is silly. 40+ point centers don't get paid 2 million.
Rest I agree. Also doesnt mention all the deals Chuck gave out re-signing players. None of which provide any value. |
