It’s all about shot blocking. These guys are all-world shot blockers. When they’re not punching guys in the face they’ll be sliding on their stomachs blocking shots. What’s more exciting to watch than some inconsequential goons punching each other in the face and shot blocking? - Dkos
They better be blocking shots because they will be caved in their own zone for the majority of their shifts.

It wasn't that long ago when you arguing with me that it was false that Fletcher was going to cap the team out. Even when it was just a case of simple math. - MJL
I posted multiple times the approach I would take this off-season, and what I "hoped" Fletcher would do. Based on what Fletcher was saying it seemed like this season's plan was in fact to stabilize instead of go for it with more moves and if you think about it, that is essentially what the Flyers are doing. I think the DeAngelo trade was more out of necessity due to Ellis' status, it was not part of initial plan. Having said that, I was and am still against the trade because though I like DeAngelo, he is not going to move the needle for this team or franchise. The better approach would have been to have another down year in terms of team record, but work to develop the younger players, and again pick in the top 5 in the 2023 draft to accumulate more top-end talent. That in the long run is how this franchise can get back to prominence. It certainly doesn't come from adding Deslauriers, DeAngelo and MacEwen, even for short term or money. |

Watching those 2 stiffs fight will not be entertaining. It will be like watching Claude Boivin and Dale Kushner fight. - hello it's me 2050

When the coach is the most exciting thing about your team you are in SERIOUS trouble. The real hockey heads such as myself stopped going to games a decade ago cause we can spot a non competitive team quickly. There was a waiting list for Flyers season tickets for MANY years, but all that is gone. I'm guessing there will be nights this season when it looks like Sixers games from back a few years ago when they sucked. As in empty! It's very hard to achieve that dubious honor cause the Flyers have always been a staple of Philly, but Chuckles along with some help from Hexy has managed to do it. Congrats to them. FIRE CHUCK! Thanks! - Phillywhiteout
It definitely shows you don’t go to games in your comments but how do you consider yourself a “hockey head” without knowing anything about hockey? |

I also enjoy a good punch in the face contest. I also appreciate good hockey. If they play like last year I am confident I will have turned the channel by the time either of those two fight. Very short leash this year. |

The best I can do? Hardly. Countering you doesn't require anywhere near my best.

I’ll watch. I’ll likely fall asleep or get frustrated knowing full well this is what I paid for but I’ll watch. |

Aren't Deslauries and MacEwen redundant? - PLindbergh31 Exactly what I said when Mac was resigned. These two players are totally redundant. The problem is that you don't even really need ONE of these players anymore, and yet, Chuckles(or Booby) feels the need to have two of em. These two players would only be on a team together because the man runnin the show doesn't have a plan of an sorts. He's just wingin it! FIRE CHUCK! Thanks yet again!

Don't collect fast skilled players who can score goals, add multiple useless goons. The Flyers way.

I believe I did. I don't believe the Flyers planned on DeAngelo but felt pressured to make the move once they found out about Ellis's condition. Now if you want to argue that if it wasn't DeAngelo it would have been someone else I can't argue that point. But if that someone else was Tkachuk, I would have been back on the Fletcher bandwagon. |

I've forgotten more about hockey than your feeble brain could ever conjure up. Just cause an ingrate such as yourself doesn't agree with me doesn't mean that I don't know hockey. You just happen to disagree cause you're clueless. Thanks and Fire yourself!

They hadn’t had these types of players over the last decade…aside from Simmonds, who also was a good hockey player…..where did it get them? wussy hockey for a poopty team….great mix…all kinds of fun to watch…lol….Used properly there’s still room for this type of player and they do serve a role. The difference is that in today’s game they also have to be able to bring other intangibles to the table. I’m not sure on Delauriers as I’ve seen some of his games but really didn’t notice him. Mac had some games where he played very well, but still seemed to be more of a tweener. The kid I hoped and still do hope can bring that part of the game is Allison….but until he actually can stay healthy anything he would bring this year would almost seem like a bonus…truth is though he’s also a good hockey player. |

As horrible as the contract is, I’m looking forward to ND fighting. IMO he is the toughest guy in the league. |
