It's still a giant middle finger to the players' face, after talking big about acquiring improvements to help their push. - GreatGigInTheSky
Big playoff run for the Jays. Book it as I believe they say. |

These moves do help their push
They are a better team now than they were last night
But the yanks, astros and mariners all got better |

Agreed. Their biggest weakness was middle relief. I’m concerned about Springer. I hope they just sit him till he’s completely ok. But they go with the 3 big starters in the playoffs |

That’s pretty funny. He didn’t come to Toronto with the Royals - Canada Cup
It really is. I think I even remember making fun of him a couple weeks back. |

The Jays are marginally better, yes.
But I guarantee the guys in the room are pissed about being lied to. Hell, one of the reporter guys even tweeted as such a few hours back. |

Agreed. No reason for Springer to be playing for the next little while. Heal up as much as possible because the team is gonna need him completely healthy, since there's no one else coming in to do it. |

Merrifield nice insurance once he’s able to play. Upgrade on Espinal/Biggio apparently. Hitting almost .300 |

I don't know which strategy they are using. Whit Merrifield has a -0.2 WAR and doesn't get on base. He has no value from either perspective. I mean, I don't care for Castillo, but I don't like Merrifield either. His best years are behind him.
Mitch White is a poor man's Stripling by all indicators. Frasso might be nothing, but his A-ball numbers are the type of thing you'd want to see if you can develop.
I don't know. I'm not very impressed with what they've done - at all.

Merrifield is hitting .240 with an OBP of .290. His best year is 5 years in the past, and there's been a notable descent in performance since then. Nothing wrong with having him as a bench guy, but he's a spare part. |

He’s insurance; a utility guy who can play a lot of spots. He’s hitting better lately. |

I don’t know who said it but this management team will not overpay. They’re a bunch of nerds and this was a sellers market and they weren’t going to go after big game. They just don’t care about the consequences |

Please God let Matthews moon somebody drunk or something to stop this Jays talk.
Hey guys, Marner's contract is totally fair and the Leafs are top, elite contenders, wouldn't you agree?
Nylander, most underrated player in Leafs history? |

I'm looking for a darkhorse comeback year for Justin Holl that has the haters changing their tune, how about you? |

I think springer needs to rest a bit, the addition the jays made today should help with that.
Once hes vaxxed...but he'll only miss a handful of home games for now. |

He was an all star 19' and 21' and has been pretty consistent 'til this year. Speed and contact (not this year) could be a factor.
Gives Springer some rest and then he's at least a nice platoon at 2B.
Once they shoot him up with the "Bill Gates 3000" he'll return to all star status. |

Atlanta acquired Iglesias for Davidson and Chavez. That's like acquiring an ace closer for a bag of peanuts. Now he gives up too many home runs, but still - he'd be good in the pen.
Syndergaard went for a guy who was once a #1 overall, but fell out of the top-100 in 2018 after only one year of being touted. He's in his third year of being terrible. The other guy is a roster spot.
Maybe they didn't value these players at all, but there is no reason they couldn't have gotten them with literally no risk to our future. |

All-Star is a popularity contest. That's bunk and we both know it.
He is fast and a decent base stealer and he can play numerous positions - which is good - but he has a low OBP and a below average OPS+. CC notes that he has improved of late - and this is true. Month-over-month this year he has gotten better.
Hopefully he keeps rolling, but the numbers on him so far this year aren't impressive, and his numbers year over year since 2018 have been in descent. He's also a right-handed bat, when the key thing everyone knew we wanted was a left-handed bat. |
