I like the Canes to come out of the East as a wager rather than those 2 teams.
1. They are +600 for that instead of Avs +450
2. They added Burns and Pacioretty (who has always produced at a higher level in playoffs compared to regular season), and have seen something in KK and that team is rarely wrong in individual player assessments.
3. They took Rangers to 7 and Rangers took TB to 7.
4. They will be pissed.
5. Anderson hurt and Raanta meltdown in game 7 is unlikely to recur.
6. 9m under cap at TDL projected now, enough to add someone pretty decent at TDL and huge # of impact guys are UFAs next year, including ROR, Pasta, and Patrick Kane. Chicago may well part ways for a 1st and $ withheld. . - PT21
That deadline projection is not accurate yet. Canes still have to fill out their roster. Cap picture is only with 11 forwards. There is also the issue with Jake Gardiner. I've heard reports that he may be healthy. |

A lot went right for the Rangers last year, highly doubt they are involved again. - ClaudeFather
When you have the best goalie in hockey barring injury you will be in the hunt. Their young kids are 1 year older and they got the playoff experience they needed. Plus they got the real 2C they needed in Trochek. Could see them easily winning the MET |

If Gardiner is healthy enough to play thats not good for them plus they lot Trochek..big loss |

Whenever I need a laugh I just think of that d group. Add in an inconsistent goalie.
Wonder where that group ranks in the division.
The offense is just as bad. |

Every time I see comments like this I wonder how Chuckles is still employed. Here is a team with oodles of talent on their roster and they are still NINE MILLION under the cap. I'm beginning to think that there is a true conspiracy in keeping Chuckles employed. FIRE CHUCK NOW! Thanks again! - Phillywhiteout

With the almighty Zac case settled. Did or do the Flyers have another window to do a buyout if they choose? |

Bob Clarke slept like a baby last night knowing Zac Mac was still on the Flyers. Visions of grit and sandpaper, dancing in his head. |

They haven't blocked Frost and Tippett, good so far. Now, for the love of God, if healthy let Allison, Tanner L and Ratcliffe have a shot. Plant and Zack and Brown somewhere, anywhere but on the ice.

Lappy still being the Phantoms coach after their last place finish shows how low the standards have become under Fletcher.

I'm not sure what's less likely - Allison being healthy enough to play, or Allison playing the left side. |

The problem I have with the Canes and their lack of top end talent. Aho is a nice player as is Svechnikov, but they are not enough to propel this team to the final 4 tier IMO. Defensive structure and coaching can only get them so far. If he can stay healthy Pacioretty is an upgrade over Trocek, and at 37 Burns may be a slight upgrade over DeAngelo, but these moves are not enough IMO. |

Laughton will not be on the 4th line. Cant see it. He must be traded if that happens. Though he wont as another player the dumb GM re-upped instead of traded. |

If they had to dump his contract in Arizona they have the Flyers 2023 3rd and 2024 2nd to use.

Were you laughing when the Flyers had a 98-point season with this D:
Provorov - Gostisbehere
MacDonald (65 GP) - Hägg (rookie)
Manning - Gudas
Sanheim (rookie, 49 GP)
Goalies: Eliottt (injured, 43 GP), Neuvirth (injured, 22 GP), Mrazek (17 GP), Lyon (11 GP).
The team had an excellent top forward line: Giroux (102 pts) - Couturier (31 G, 76 points, 2nd in Selke vote) - Voracek (65 A, 85 points).
Beyond that, they had a rookie Nolan Patrick. They had Val Filppula as a frequent 2C. They had Wayne Simmonds starting his decline but still reasonably effective (24G). They had Jordan Weal as essentially a regular, Dale Weise starting a little more than half of the games. Jori Lehterä started 62 regular season games and every playoff game.
Nothing on paper would have suggested this would be a 98-point team. As badly as they played in the playoff series against Pittsburgh and as bad as the goaltending was, they STILL managed to get to third period of Game 6 with the score tied.

Canes - MJL
Are you talking about deadline cap space or start of season cap space? According to Cap friendly the Canes have about $1.8M in projected cap space. And if Gardiner comes back, the Canes are neck deep with cap issues. |

I am laughing now is what matters. The D on paper sucks Bill whether you want to admit or not.
They have a pop gun offense with a coach who is not known for an offensive mind. That group of 12 forwards will not scare anyone. It is a below average group whether you want to admit it or not.
But hey the Frost line had great underlying metrics.

The very LAST thing the Flyers should want or need right now is a 98 point season. This team needs to come in about the same as last season if they want any chance of returning to prominence. There are, not 1, not 2, but 3 potential generational talents in the top 5 of the 2023 draft. That should be the Flyers complete and undivided focus, on obtaining one of those 3 players. |

I get it. The sky is always falling. Everything is negative, 24/7/365. And yet you will be watching. Why?
I am not optimistic about the upcoming season. I realize they need a whole lot of things to go right just to be a bubble team and that it's a very tough Division to be in even under ideal circumstances. I expect the Flyers to be in the bottom 1/3 of the NHL.
But do I think it's impossible for them to overachieve relative to those modest expectations? No. Impossible for a couple of clearly talented but thus far underachieving young players to break through? No.

Sorry to say it Bill, but the sky is falling for the Flyers. Two dreadful seasons in a row and we are a capped out team with horrible contracts littered through the lineup. You said it yourself, you expect them in the bottom third of the league. The GM and team executive came out and said they thought this team was close back in the winter. Why in the world would anyone think this thing is going to turn around? |
