Jesus
Hopefully that’s BS because if we sign him for that it’ll be a disaster on multiple levels. Brings my back to whoever said;
“He deserves every penny.”

That would explain why he’s not signed then. |

Or it's a ploy to stop teams from calling because he's already signed. |

I dont think its an advantage for Canadian teams....in fact I think its the opposite. They had to get creative (i.e frontloading) in order to be competitive. Look at Gaudreau, and Tkatchuk.....they got outta Canada as soon as they could. Given the option, most NHLers are opting for an American team vs a Canadian. Even with the bonus contracts, you still have a 1-1.30 dollar differential - kindlyrick
They don't have to Frontload them.. look at Marner's contract. He gets a Bonus every year and then a minimum Salary instead of a signing bonus.
Gaudreau left b/c of the absurd travel policies and He is about to have a child and his wife wanted her family to be able to come see the kid. I have no idea why Matt left.

That would be an interesting idea. But lets say a player gets a year deal worth $70m (after taxes) from the Isles. Then after 3 years he gets traded to, say, Vegas. How would that work (tax-wise)? How does that change the cap hit? Would it now be the entire contract including the taxes that were taken out? I like the idea, just not sure how it would work. - Isleshockeyman
Very good point.. and no friggin clue is my answer. |

Very good read and I agree with it. - niteislander
Everything sounds like a good idea till you do it and it doesn’t work.
If Kadri is signed there’s going to be some shuffling unless there’s a center being moved out. There’s been quite a bit of speculation of exactly that but like everything else Islander related that’s all it is, speculation. Nobody has any idea in all reality. If Lameriello doesn’t have any real leads on moving out salary moving a center is probably the easiest path. I don’t agree with it in any sense. If any one of our centers is moved out to accommodate Kadri, to me it becomes a lateral move at best. Maybe even worse depending on who that center is. Trading from a position that is currently a strength of ours doesn’t exactly sit well with me. |

So since you all think I am nuts and Vukota things I drink in the mornings. Bourbon would be choice...How about this little diddy.
If in fact Lou has signed Kadri.
Trade Barzal to the Bruins for Pastrnak
Boston is looking for a #1 center. Pasta is making 6.6 and is UFA next year.
Send Bailey and #1 to whoever will take him.
Isles have 400k in cap space.

I think if Lou made a trade, it would be announced. Don't both sides file? Unless of course Lou asked a team not to file yet. But you're absolutely right, none of us have any idea what's going on right now. |

I’m not saying he made a trade already. I’m saying he’s trying to make one if we are actually signing Kadri. |

The only way that makes sense is if Lou is working multiple teams to pull off the deal because everyone including Kamala Harris knows what Lou is trying to do. And we all know how intelligent the vice president is.

I know you're not saying he already made a trade. My point, albeit poorly worded, was more of a question about trades in general. As in, if Lou has made a trade, wouldn't it be reported to the league office? Does Lou have the ability to hold off reporting trades to the league office? If he has made a trade and is waiting, the other team, at Lou's request, would need to stay silent about a trade as well. I'm just not sure how soon a trade needs to be in to the league office for approval or if Lou can keep it in his pocket.
Maybe ha has made a trade and is looking to make more moves. Maybe he's sitting on the beach sipping pina coladas. Who the hell knows. Certainly not us. |

You're right. Everyone knows what he is trying to do, if he did in fact sign Kadri. If you're a GM and Lou calls looking to make a trade, you know what's going on. Maybe since Lou knows that other GM's know what he's trying to do, he's trying to not get bent over a barrel. |

He may have deals in place with other teams pending league approval. If he’s signing Kadri I’m sure he does. I’m not going to make pretend I actually know but I assume a trade isn’t announced till it’s approved by the league and whatever team(s) he may have something going on with are keeping it quiet. It doesn’t do them any favors to leak anything out until it’s finalized. |

But if they know what he’s trying to do already(of course they do the whole world knows) it’s not going to make a damn bit a difference |
