I remember Cizikas got injured that season, and Strome even did a fine job filling in for him on that line. He could do it all it seemed....and then.....nothing.

That was so strange. It's like the next year he forgot how to play hockey. Thought the Isles found a very good player.

Yeah, that was weird. You expect a player to get better, not worse. I was excited about him....and then.....disappointed.

I actually like the idea of Brock on top line too.. he shoots and is a much better defensive player than he gets credit.

That’s why he’s a good two way center. Which is why I would keep him there.

pretty sure that is what I was saying in the first place. Let him play 1C with Barzal and Lee... not like Barzal isn't all over the ice anyway. You will have at least one forward who is thinking about Defense .. Lee will be in his office and Barzal will be skating around like a lunatic. .. and if he passes it to Brock you know he is shooting.

.. .IF .. and that is a big IF.. we get Kadri. That is what I believe will happen.

This response made me think of this commercial for some reason, one of the funniest commercials in the last 10 years imo

I would consider moving Brock to Barzy's wing and let Kadri center the second line. Barzy's ability to create time and space would be a pretty lethal combination with Brock's shot. You could also allow Brock to take some face offs on Barzy's behalf.

Eh...it's not like we've never seen Brock on the wing before. It stalled his development by 2+ seasons experimenting with where to play him. He's turned into a really good center who finally looks comfortable in his role. I don't really get moving him to wing again where he was practically invisible most of the time.

I don't get messing with the center position at all, to be honest. It's the team's only real strength from line 1 to line 4...and one of two positions (goaltending being the other) that they could just leave as-is so they could focus on improving the actual weaknesses at wing and D. Instead there's all this talk about shuffling centers around to create more question marks.

If Kadri was worlds better than what they have already at center I'd get it, but I don't think Kadri replacing Barzal or Nelson really moves the needle that much for the team overall, and I don't see either Barzal or Nelson as the ideal winger that solves the team's issues at that position.

Said the same thing the other day on here. Casey isn’t going anywhere and we’re not exactly going to throw Nelson or Barzal on the fourth line anyway. Pageau has been a perfect fit as our third line center but to me he would be the most likely candidate to move to the wing. I don’t think it’s an ideal situation/signing. Nelson had his best season as a center I don’t think it’s the best time to move him to wing
Though the idea of moving Nelson to Barzal’s wing is interesting because it’s never been done but ideally we wouldn’t be trying to sign a center to begin with no matter what he brings(minus a ridiculous point increase from what we have). Makes you wonder if someone we didn’t think of may be on the way out…

I know Lou likes players he's familiar with, which Kadri would be, so I get it from that perspective...bring in the attitude, talent, and pedigree (coming off a Stanley Cup win) Lou wants. And Kadri's definitely a solid player who would boost the team's talent level. But, yeah, it's not really a piece that fits neatly in the roster puzzle. Like, the day after the season ended I don't think any of us would have said, "Forget the wing, we need to bring in another center." I haven't really understood what they're trying to do with the team this offseason, and we're getting pretty close to showtime here for next season. To your point, maybe it's Kadri coming in and one of the centers going out for a winger. Or maybe not! Maybe Kadri's not even signed

It's not easy being an Islander fan and especially in the summer UIF. It's a long waiting game for sure. It's very tough to understand what is going on. Kadri is a nice player but not the #1 need. 1RW is the big need.
