break the law suffer the consequences. It is accurate.

Why would you be raiding Ovy's house?

- hello it's me 2050

She did not "suffer the consequences" of breaking the law. She suffered the consequences of being a victim of political circumstances.

I would tell you why we would be raiding Ovy's house. For the same reason Grinier almost certainly received an extra thorough search. We would be looking for trouble, and we do our darndest to find it.

Putin believes (and has said and written so explicitly many times) that western societies are decaying and crumbling and lack spine. And what distinguishes Russians from the west is that they are willing to make sacrifices westerners won't. Inflict enough pain on them and public opinion will turn. Hence the turning off of German gas, and the imprisonment of Grinier. Two sides of the same coin, policies designed to weaken support for Ukraine warfare.

I am not serious about AO, obviously. But how about this? Let's retry Bout, and put him in Rikers instead of a cushy fed prison in Illinois. Or put him in solitary.

Or give Ukraine some of those long distance missiles they want capable of hitting Moscow.

EDIT: Kinda feeding the troll, so am done here.

That’s only bluster. He’s sending his emissary Chuck Fletcher over to negotiate the release.

Russia doesn't want any draft picks so not sure what Chuck can do.

There's no such thing as a "woman" any longer. They're now referred to as "birthing people".

Bump is a good goal scorer but he’s not close to being the best high school player in Minnesota let alone the USA. Six Minnesotans were selected ahead of him in the draft.Max Strand was selected Mr. Hockey and wasn’t even drafted. Sam Rinzel just finished his junior year in high school and was selected 25th overall.Bump is one dimensional right now.

Mult credible publications award him national player of the year so…

The law she actually broke, even within Russia, is a minor offense. The charges were draconian (smuggling with criminal intent rather than possession of a small quantity of an illegal substance) as was the sentence.

There was a foreign hockey player in the KHL a few years ago that was arrested for possession of a small quantity of marijuana.

He got a 60-day sentence and a (very hefty) fine. Griner got 9 years in prison. The main difference wasn't the offense itself. It was the timing.

This guy is serving 14 year sentence for medicinal weed in Russia. He is not a part of any political or other conversations

political prisoner lol....she broke Russian law.
- hello it's me 2050

Yes, but do you really think a vape pen is worthy of a trafficking charge. As much as I think she has an attitude problem and not very educated on US history.
Nine years is excessive.6mo to a year I might agree she broke the law to bad.
The current administration has zero leverage and are weak so Putin is going to use her as an example.
Leave no man or woman behind as they say.

A fake Russian in fake wrestling. Perfect.

Btw, fyi, I am sympathetic personally. But I also strongly object to freeing Bout for her. At least right away. Wait till after the elections so there are no appearances of politics on this end, ask for assurances of good treatment, and then make a deal for her in 2023 if we must.

Of course her sentence was political. She is being used as a pawn to see how far the US can be pushed with its perceived weak leadership. President Puddinghead is an empty suit to the majority of the world and this is Putin seeing how empty it actually is.

It is gaining much more traction than usual because she has the dream deck of cards to play. She is female, she is black, she is lesbian, and she is a high profile (well, relatively so lol) pro athlete. The Russians know this and are using it against us. They know the left will be screaming about sexism, racism, and homophobia if the government doesn't do everything in its power to get her back, and they can ask for the moon in return. They didn't even have to put all that much pressure on the situation.

Kyle Calder was poop. That deal never made sense to me considering we just lost Primeau to a career ending injury and giving up Handzus who was still one of the best two way centers in the game. We got lucky he got hot when he did and we were able to get Lasse Kukkonen who I loved. Good shot blocker. Was this a Clarke trade?
- SuperSchennBros

Calder was struggling with off-ice issues that he wasn't handling very well. It was a a bad trade.

Making a deal so there are no appearances of politics is politics 101.
The russian arms dealer rumoured to be swapped is a no go.
Let’s not forget there is another American being held for espionage as well.
I don’t want to see either in a russian prison longer than necessary.
I also am not letting out a pos arms dealer.

PT, agreed her sentence is too harsh for the crime. However, we should do no such thing as negotiate with them for one simple reason: doing so incentivizes them to continue to harassing and imprisoning more American (or European) celebrities as a means to negotiate. We should NEVER do this which is exactly why the dementia patient currently in the WH will do it.

Lots of countries still criminalize weed. If you want to distribute a controlled substance in a country where it is illegal because you “believe in it,” you should be prepared to run these risks.

There will be no return of fire because there will be no fire. And if they hit Moscow, Moscow will nuke Ukraine, which is why they won't hit Moscow.

It is the same MAD policy and why New Delhi doesn't hit Islamabad, and Seoul hit Pyongyang and so on.

Not to say that these steps should be taken lightly. Certainly not because of Griner.
But they should never be explicitly off the table.

So you didn't get my reply and decided to reply referring to the MAD policy. Do I have to actually explain it? Might be easier for me to continue trying to explain the salary cap to you.
