I looked at the cap crunch for next year.
UFAs
Bo
Miller
Kuz
Dowling
Schenn
Buroughs
Being up against the ceiling like they are, how are they going to resign the them?
Sure Dowling and Buroughs walk, but that only saves 1.5 mil and takes away depth. The D is so weak that they are playing Schenn more then they are paying him, so how do you replace or resign him?
And let's suppose Kuz plays like we all hope he does and comes in around 20 goals and 45 points. Where does the money come from to pay him? And that is not even getting to to obvious Bo and Miller salary questions.
The following year, Petey and Podz re-upping comes into play as well. At least the Myers deal will be up, but you still have to replace him at a top 4 salary rate with someone else or resign him.
This is not a Hater or Pom Pom issue, just basic economics
Man that Ek deal just sucks on so many levels. - carsonagenic
Agreed.
Pretty sure this is why several posters figure it is best to move Miller now, not because he isn't a good player.
All of these 1 million dollar overpay are adding up, which will be costing the team from keeping some of their best players.
Your last sentence, do you mean Erik Karlson? |

According to capfriendly, the Canucks currently sit in 6th place in spending, ahead of Stanley Cup Champs, Colorado, the Rangers, Kings, Carolina and several other playoff teams.
Must mean the Canucks are good. - Reubenkincade
I mean, they might be. I still think there is a lot of work to do to get to great, but theyâll probably be good.

I agree with your comment, on that site, Lekkerimaki can shoot the puck. |

Hard decisions have to be made for sure.
But I think we all know how this is going to turn out...
Pushing for the playoffs because "if you get in you have a shot"...
"This team deserved and earned the right to ice the best lineup possible"...
Playoff revenue for Aqua...
and
Miller walks for nothing as UFA.

Miller needs to go so the organization can focus on the younger talent and keep building from within |

Theyâll get something for him, which is better than nothing. Someone always steps up with a package thatâs palatable. |

I think theyâll probably be as good as Nashville/Dallas last season. Will that be enough to make the playoffs? |

Yeah past regimes said that. If this one is more independent from
Ownership they should make the long term move not the short shot at success.
Itâs great to have playoffs but if players donât sign then the team deserves to ice a lineup that commits to being a Canuck. |

Of course. MNGT wants a full assessment of what we have under a full season of Boudreau. Why folks can't grasp this is weird. Whatever happens with Miller will most likely happen at TDL and that's a big maybe. The dreams of this big Kings Ransom for Miller are gone. Accept it. He'll be here next year. You don't move a 100 point player for 'maybe' assets at this point of the club development. And if he walks we can allocate those funds to other players. |
